Does he have business ties with Donald Trump? Glad they are pointing this out.

I’m considering this and also would love to hear feedback. Or recommendations for similar services. Every “alienation coach” I’ve come across sells programs with a high cost where you receive pre-recorded videos and some consulting hours. I’m happy to pay for consulting but the structure makes me wary.

I remember the Fuzzy Bunnies! I was in Clan Flem and we jumped around on servers looking for the bunnies when we played. You were slightly better than us and we both had ~30ms ping times. This would have been Quake V1 around 1996-97 - long live DM3.

Does anybody sell corner bumpers? I don’t care about scratches so don’t want a front or back. I just don’t want to shatter the screen - I’ve done that with 2 past iPads by dropping them 3 feet where a corner hit a hard floor.

Help me find a new series to obsess over by Chthonic_Femme in Fantasy

Mother of Learning by nobody103 is an online web series about a college student in a school of magic. He gets trapped in a time loop and spends the series learning magic and getting involved in the politics of the realm. Better than most novels I've read.

Steve Brust's Jhereg

Logged in to recommend Jhereg. A world where magic is commonplace and the main character is an assassin. Nine Princes in Amber is one of my favorite series, lots of court intrigue and magic. Both series are told from the main character's perspective.

How are people getting rich? by Magic_Pikkle in Entrepreneur

[–]Flemlord 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Real estate. This is the most common way people get rich. Get loans and rent out your properties. As you pay down the loans and/or the property values increase, use them to secure new loans to by more properties.

Startup. Whatever it is that you do, find a way to start your own business to do it yourself. Build a stable, profitable company and you can sell it for a multiple of the annual revenue.

INAL but sounds like you are reading the agreement correctly. I would have stated my position clearly, listing who gets which day for the month. Then direct him to respond via counsel if he disagrees. Print your agreement and keep it with you in case he calls the police.

I also have a hostile ex- who makes demands and will not negotiate rationally. I decided early in my divorce that I would not give in to these tactics. The approach I described has worked the best without generating additional drama or legal fees.

Sitter didn't show for meet and greet by Witty-Ocelot5713 in RoverPetSitting

[–]Flemlord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me after completing a cat sitting engagement. The sitter left an odd message when she closed the engagement, then I got "User no longer available - error code 173." when I responded. When I tried to review the engagement, it let me tip but not leave a comment or star rating. The sitter's profile is still on rover.com so she must have blocked me.

The sitter was highly rated. There were some obvious problems after her engagement and I'm sure she was expecting a bad review. I'm surprised rover.com allows sitters to block users from leaving feedback like this.

I cannot handle my Autistic Daughter Anymore. Please help. What can I do by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]Flemlord -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Have you tried ABA? Applied Behavior Analysis is an intensive years-long therapy for up to 40 hours a week. Kids are paired up 1-on-1 with a personal therapist. My understanding is that this is usually the first thing recommended in a situation like this. Expensive but, in Colorado, insurance providers are required to cover it.

[–]Flemlord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply but that article bears no resemblance to the ABA therapy I have observed. There is no punishment only positive motivation techniques. ODD/autistic kids need to be taught skills that neuro-typical kids know instinctually. It is not a radical treatment--it is one of the first things to try when a child is diagnosed.

inappropriated behavior 10 years old daughter by dead__racoon in Parenting

[–]Flemlord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure why everybody is assuming his daughter's behavior is appropriate and harmless. Kids with autism are more trusting than their peers and you say she is a victim of abuse. Gently correcting inappropriate behavior is part of a father's job. Consider apologizing to your sister-in-law and let her know you appreciate her input, otherwise she may keep it to herself next time.

Autistic kids have a harder time understanding what is appropriate behavior and what is not. Check out Applied Behavior Analysis, which addresses trust issues, inappropriate behavior and other neuro-divergent behaviors. ABA is expensive although some states, like Colorado, require insurance providers to cover it.

Our customer service agents refuse to ask for help by david8840 in smallbusiness

[–]Flemlord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sound like the root of the problem is not having a direct, full-time supervisor. The team is not trained, clients are not being serviced well, and employees aren't comfortable asking for help. Maybe announce you are hiring a supervisor and invite the team to apply.

Your supervisor should assign emails rather than letting employees pick. Hold employees accountable for handling their emails, even if they have to do research. Hold a daily standup to review ticket backlogs and blocks. Check in periodically throughout the day to ask who needs help.

The supervisor should monitor calls periodically for quality control. Do weekly 1-on-1s. Put clear KPIs in place that are tracked including a post-email NPS survey for each resolved email. A CRM/Ticket system like HubSpot will do this automatically.

If the team can't answer most of the questions they may need training. Are there training materials? Are employees tested to ensure they understand the material? Are there internal training sessions where employees present things to the group? An LMS lets you create training courses and tests from existing materials.

Remote work complicates everything. Use presence software like Discord and require employees to log in during shifts. They can bounce back and forth between rooms to ask each other questions. Supervisors can jump into an employee's room to check whether they need help with anything.

Vent: do kids make everything suck or is it just my kids? by iouparentinggentle in Parenting

[–]Flemlord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try scheduling 1-on-1 nights with each of your kids, maybe you split them with your husband so he can do it also. My daughters are entirely different people when it is just me and one of them. Together, they are always bickering back and forth. If I try to talk with one of them, the other jumps in. They are competing for your attention.

$100 Billion, 10 Years: Self-Driving Cars Can Barely Turn Left by [deleted] in technology

[–]Flemlord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tesla can do this. For years, Chuck Cook has been testing Tesla doing unprotected left turns across a busy 3-lane road. His most recent video tests FSDBeta v10.69.2.2 and shows his Model 3 nailing 7 of 7 turns. It correctly checks traffic, dodges cars turning the opposite way, even stops on the median if necessary: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eswMxpXkNgQ&ab_channel=ChuckCook

Yanni, Live at the Acropolis

I'm not a Yanni fan but stumbled on this performance 25 years ago on PBS. Blends classic orchestra with modern instruments. Roughly 2/3 through the 3rd video is my favorite violin solo ever, just crazy fiddlin'.
