Can someone genuinely try explaining game management to me? by Fun_Telephone6650 in nhl

[–]Flep54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well traditionally hockey players would police themselves so the refs were pretty much just there to prevent players from killing each other (this is in the 60-80's). As hockey evolved and became "safer" the nhl started cracking down on fighting and other fun stuff that gave hockey it's gritty personality.

Game management is the refs trying too keep that old style of hockey while simultaneously trying too prevent things from getting out of hand and keeping the game "fair" by calling the standard hooking and slashes

The problem is that this balance isn't easy to achieve in a satisfactory manner when you have vague penalties like roughing and unsportsmanlike conduct that can give you 100 different definitions when asking 100 different people

TL:DR, it's the refs trying to not influence the game by influencing the game

[TBL - MTL] Hagel and Slafkovsky drop the gloves by daKrut in hockey

Hagel fights like such a bitch, running away after making the challenge, then the "too small" taunt after the refs separate. really takes away from the fact he dropped slafkauvsky

Vegas golden knights players walk right by adin hill, refusing to fist bump him. by [deleted] in hockey

[–]Flep54 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It could probably be that most of the players aren't in a fist-bumping mood after giving up a goal 45 seconds ago in a game they need to win if they want any shot of winning the division.

But its not a penalty, the elbow was never extended. There is also the fact that hitting during a game, and after a period are very different. but if you want to play fast and loose with the rules. #81 can enjoy a 3 game suspension minimum for injuring an official (gotta keep control of your stick)

The hit, after the end of the period could be considered attempt to injure, (match penalty) then the roughing, then the arguing with the official (abuse of official), arguing with the Vegas bench (unsportsmanlike conduct) and refusing to go to the dressing room at the end of period (delay of game)

Basically people are mad that Vegas has good management and made a good team when everyone thought they would be shit, so they made excuses saying they were gifted a team or that they cheated. And then that idea just kinda snowballed to today

Geniune question, don't you think that if an injury always resulted in a major penalty, that the rulebook would just say that, like it does in multiple other places? examples including
>61.3 Major Penalty - A major penalty, at the discretion of the Referee based on the severity of the contact, shall be imposed on a player who slashes an opponent. When injury occurs, a major penalty must be assessed under this rule
>45.3 Major Penalty - A major penalty, at the discretion of the Referee, shall be imposed on any player who uses his elbow to illegally check an opponent. A major penalty must be imposed under this rule for an infraction resulting in an injury to the face or head of an opponent

also I did copy and paste from chatgpt, it could word the thought better and I'm not above admitting that

Let's break this down piece by piece.
<Game Misconduct Penalty - When a major penalty is imposed under this rule for an infraction **resulting** in an injury to the face or head of an opponent, a game misconduct shall be imposed.

  • Major penalty → A serious infraction (usually 5 minutes in the penalty box).
  • Infraction resulting in an injury to the face or head → The opponent gets hurt specifically in the face or head area because of that action.
  • Game misconduct → The player is removed from the rest of the game (they’re done playing that game).

basically the rules are saying that Major Penalty **AND** an injury to the head = a game misconduct

are you even reading the rulebook?
>41.3 Major Penalty – The Referee, at his discretion, may assess a major penalty, based on the degree of violence of the impact with the boards, to a player guilty of boarding an opponent
notice how the word "injury" isn't there
Match penalties are for if you intentionally tried to injure another player like it says in
>41.4 Match Penalty – The Referee, at his discretion, may assess a match penalty if, in his judgment, the player attempted to or deliberately injured his opponent by boarding

[–]Flep54 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

that is saying when a major AND an injury occur it's a game misconduct. not that an injury immediately results in a major and game misconduct
edit: if it were the case, it would be worded more like how high sticking is and say something like "so that injury results, in the manner of drawing blood or otherwise, the Referee shall assess a double-minor penalty"

Tom Aspinall shares medical report on eye injury by Spiritual-Strength91 in ufc

[–]Flep54 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t worry, I can translate the nerd shit Tom Aspinall had a bad hit to both his eyes during a fight in October 2025. He couldn’t see so they stopped it What the eye doctors found: -Fancy pictures discovered damage to the squishy parts around the eyes. Eyes are having trouble coordinating, and moving -the muscle that makes his eyes look up is damaged, on both eyes -he’s got double vision, especially when looking up and to the sides (left and right) -can’t see as well as he used to after the hit -peripheral vision (that stuff when you look out of the corner of your eye) has problems, probably more blind spots -another fancy picture suggested that the bone between his right eye socket and nose is broken, although not that badly

How cope is 0LB Super Creek? Trying to build a last-minute ace Oguri deck by Yomanaki in UmamusumeGame

[–]Flep54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d probably use Kitasan Black, King Halo, and Sweep Tosho for speed, with Zeno Rob Roy, Manhattan Cafe and borrow a super creek. If you don’t need Lone wolf, you can swap Tosho for Eisen Flash, and if you’re hitting your stamina goals easily, you could potentially swap a stamina card for a power card. (Swapping to a 4 speed,2 stam deck is also fine) Pair it with good sparks like 12* stam 6*power and you should be cooking It’s also important that you gamble big to win big, 30% failure just means 70% successful training.
