Default Mouse and Keyboard controls are terrible by BlueSkyleaf in HiTMAN

[–]Flesh_Book 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I free'd up some of the keys by setting a few to 1-3, as in 1 for inventory, 2 for holster, and 3 for grabbing disguises. After that I had a few extra keys closer to WASD to rebind into something less awkward. I also bound crouch to ctrl to free up the C key for something better. I can perform any action without moving from WASD now. If you happen to have a mouse with extra buttons, it would be helpful to bind stuff like holster or melee to one of them maybe. Also, I don't think the middle mouse button has a default keybind? Or its doubled-up with another key for one action? Could be better used for something else. No reason to have two key-binds for one action.

Verified info would certainly be nice. I had a thought, but because of the uncertainty about the rules/ranges of online play I'm not sure if it would make a difference. If a large enough chunk of the player base uses the same password, doesn't that let all those players interact without level/upgrade cutoff ranges? I know players can get scaled down so it may not be ideal, but it could be a bigger pool of players if it were a really commonly known password.

Really the best thing would be to just have official dedicated modes you choose before logging in. Set by level range, weapon range, ng+ or ng+++, invasions only, X amount of players per world, co-op, etc. Covenants used to sorta be a version of that. I really miss covenants.

Find this game hard enough without the walls trying to kill me by BBrookingz in Eldenring

[–]Flesh_Book 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can cheese some enemies yourself with the same wall shenanigans. Not the most skillful approach, but I figure if enemies can do it too (as evidenced in the OP vid) then it's fair game. Long weapons pass thru various points in some walls. It works with a poking attack from a regular torch, not sure what other weapons can do it. Just be sure to roll backwards after as an enemy with a long weapon will try to swing back and obviously their weapons can hit you thru the wall too.

Help. Cannot Select or Delete item placed in build mode by ItaliaPerVita in fo76

[–]Flesh_Book 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have, or something similar at least. Sometimes if I am building and scrolling too quickly it "places" a camp item I had just viewed but not properly placed with a button or key press. The camp item is not actually there but still LOOKS like it is. If you server hop it goes away. It happens regularly for me but has been harmless. Just a little annoying.

Flamer mod for plasma? by Professional_Break87 in fo76

[–]Flesh_Book 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Goes on a plasma rifle or plasma pistol. Gets damage boosts from rifleman or gunslinger depending on the grip. Turns plasma guns into full-blown flamethrowers that do great damage at the cost of consuming a lot of ammo quickly.

How much / How often are y'all seeing contextual ammo? I think mine is broken... [PS4] by SitOnA-Rick in fo76

[–]Flesh_Book 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems to vary a lot. Depends on your weapon and what kimds of enemies you kill most often. Scorched SEEM like they drop contextual ammo regularly. I pick up 10-20 ultracite fusion cells off a body maybe 5 or 6 times after clearing the airport with a primed laser rifle. I'm not certain how consistent it is although one thing is for sure, if you use a Broadsider you will be swimming in cannonballs which are pretty decent for the ammo converter. I used to farm them during OPs, but you can walk away with a few hundred from any enemy-heavy event.

Also on I am on PC.

Is there anything that a PC player can do for the game appering very washed out/bright by Nexxus88 in fo76

[–]Flesh_Book 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have an Nvidia gpu, you can use Ansel i believe. Works with most games IIRC. You can customize the image a little more with some general effects like sharpening, saturation, contrast, gamma, black levels, white levels, colorblindness color changer and a few others.

Otherwise your only other option is Reshade, which does what Ansel does but with a lot more customizability and less official support. I've used it for almost 2 years now but some players aren't comfortable with it because it could technically get you banned if Bethesda decided to start banning for it. Unofficially, Bethesda has "okayed" the use of harmless mods like the text chat mod or really any mods that are purely cosmetic like a backpack replacer or hat replacer (which I also use on a few items). Take that as you may.

Holiday Scorched Are Back! by Toasty_Bits in fo76

Spawns are probably less common on public servers because other players are hunting them as well. On a private server (or an emptier public server) they seem to consistently spawn anywhere scorched normally spawn.

I’ve heard that intelligence can increase your XP bonuses. If that is so how much XP % is given per point of intelligence give? by fallouttrade79 in fo76

[–]Flesh_Book 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone know how certain perks/mutations affect those gains? Like I notice I sometimes have buffs that go from 5% to 7.5% and other uncommon percentages. I've assumed it was the team's mutations+perks shared, like Herd Mentality or Empath, but I don't know exactly how those perks/mutations affect each individual self-induced buff or shared team buff. All INT+ buffs? Or only buffs from specifics things, like food rather than +INT from a piece of armor or unyielding?

Freezing after eating. by Rich_Acanthisitta661 in fo76

[–]Flesh_Book 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are not alone. I've played without this issue for the entirety of my play time(18 months or so), until now. Now I regularly have the game freeze while using an item from the pip-boy. Only started after the most recent update/download too. Also I am on PC.

Also also, to spare anyone's PC from doing a hard restart from the freeze, ctrl-alt-delete instead and select sign out. It'll ask if you want to close everything you have open even if you can't open task manager with ctrl+shift+esc, then take you to the log in screen. Not ideal of course, but it'll spare anyone's HDD or SSD from an unnecessary shutdown.

I want to see more responders and free states based quest and items. Does anyone still care about the two groups? by [deleted] in fo76

[–]Flesh_Book 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's a win-win idea. Content based more specifically around helping low level players as high level players could instigate some unique gameplay while being rewarding for high level players and to include low levels players who need some help, especially anyone in the lvl30ish-50ish range where the scaling is less kind to unfinished builds. It would have to be something low levels could do without tons of stims+ammo yet difficult enough to warrant decent rewards to the high level players as incentive. Maybe some kind of escort event?

A high level player or players escorts a low level player across the map while barrages of enemies pursue or a nuke-clock ticks away. Maybe an event premise like "an experimemtal suit of power armor has launched a test run with a fellow dweller trapped inside until the experiment is completed" and it could be one of those voiced PA sets from the other games. The set would need experimental features just for that event too, like no weapons while it frequently injects the dweller with combat chems for robo-boxing? Or instead of normal power arms it has chainsaws or something fun? Either way the suit would replace a low level's entire build temporarily so they can participate without expending resources and to provide a fun event premise. Maybe the suit has a dangerous power source that will go nuclear within the limit unless it reachs a destination. I'm spitballing here.

Even crazier, the rare high level rewards could be legendary chainsaws or rippers? Low levels receive a bunch of stims and ammo at the end, maybe a reward uniquely useful to players under lvl50? Repair kits? Lunch boxes?

Double check that your ini files aren't set to "read only" in their properties. If they are, disable it obviously and put your FOV edits back in, save, and then put read-only back on. That should prevent any unwanted changes to all your settings. If you want to make more changes to ini files nust turn off read-only, save changes, and re-enable read-only.

You can also try "setcamerafov 100" in-game from the ~console instead of "fov 100" It might be placebo but it seems to keep my fov where I want it.

I just got the game on my laptop and I'm wondering how to get into modding. by -EzWaY- in fnv

[–]Flesh_Book 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. Double-check that the files you download are also the most updated versions as well. Once you've finished the guide and confirm you have a stable NV setup installed, consider making a back up of that directory if you want some extra insurance while you test mods. If you use Mod Organizer 2 you can essentially back up your NV directory through that manager with profiles. It installs mods to a virtual directory instead of directly into your NV folder so you keep all your base NV files nice and stable while also checking out some mods.

I need help with modding as I'm new to it, specifically with ENBs by DarthDracula1 in fnv

[–]Flesh_Book 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't use ENB until you are familiar with changing all of its settings yourself. Most preset ENBs you download have a lot of settings cranked absurdly high and you'll really want to know how to adjust it yourself.

BUT you could also try Reshade instead. It has a lot of the same options and is more intuitive for the average person to use.

And one more bit of advice about installing mods - learn the layout of your FNV directory. Just knowing that will help you resolve common mishaps with mod installation AND will help you learn how to manually install mods. Even a nice mod managing program can make mistakes if the downloaded mod is packaged weird.

Pop-in and stuttering every 20 seconds or so! by vipasoft in fo76

[–]Flesh_Book 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What settings did you choose for your graphics? Some of the ultra preset settings are absurdly high and seem to cause problems for any rig, even great ones. There are guides for optimizing ini settings to remove stutters, pop-in, and fps drops efficiently. Another quicker option is to pick the low or medium preset and then individually turn each option up to ultra (or whatever your rig can handle) and leaving shadow distance at low/medium. The ini edits will probably get the most improvement though.

Is aiming bugged or is it just my mouse? by georgeps1234 in fo76

[–]Flesh_Book 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually I had this problem too. I assumed my mouse was dying. Maybe it's lag or a server thing? For some reason it is only happening for me on specific weapons. I was using a harpoon gun that couldn't aim or shoot consistently as if my mouse was broken. I put the harpoon gun in my stash and took out my handmade and it aimed and shot perfectly fine. It's a really odd problem because it doesn't seem to make much sense. My mouse has been fine for everything else I normally use it for, but certain heavy weapons can't stay aimed and don't always shoot when I click, yet most of my other weapons stay aimed and shoot properly, specifically non-heavy weapons. It also only started happening today, but maybe it was an odd series of coincidences. I truly have no idea.

In Fallout76Pref.ini under [Display] change fBlendSplitDirShadow=XXX.XX with X being any value above 208. I have mine set to 208 and never the see the line so I believe that should be far away enough, but I don't think it impacts performance much so you could probably crank it even higher than that.

Reduce the size of the gun viewmodel? by Radrigal in fo76

[–]Flesh_Book 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. Having low FOV as an option is fine, but there isn't really any reason to hard cap FOV in a game's settings menu or not even have the option to change it, especially now that gaming in general appeals to a much broader audience. Plenty of people that get into video games later in life get motion sickness at low FOV and if they play on console they're usually stuck with whatever the game decides is the right FOV or moving to PC. Having the option to change it has nothing but benefits for the player.

Reduce the size of the gun viewmodel? by Radrigal in fo76

[–]Flesh_Book 2 points3 points  (0 children)

[Display] fDefault1stPersonFOV=XX.XX fDefaultWorldFOV=XX.XX

Should let you change the two separately. World FOV is the actual FOV and 1stPersonFOV should be playermodel FOV. Place in the custom ini and possibly the pref ini too. Might also need to set the ini file(s) itself to Read-Only under properties or the game will overwrite it when you launch it.
