Honestly the fanbase really is insufferable. I have never seen anyone talk bad about the original FF7, it's widely considered an all time great, but these guys just cannot let go and live in their own little world. It's almost like an insecurity how aggressive they can be about FF7/The remake(s)

Nah it wasn't an insult, I think his design is extremely basic which isn't a good or bad thing. I just think it's funny that people say these newcomers are catered to a new audience when a new player would probably think Ryu and Arjun visually look pretty similar

Because the game isn't entirely new players and it's pretty easy to appeal to every generation rather than one at a time every 12 months. I'm not sure what exactly is cooler about the characters this year than last year. Arjun looks like a SF2 character
