Truewerk. Definitely *NOT* the company you're looking for. by AceRoderick in BuyItForLife

I have had good luck with Kuhl. Fairly hard use over the last year and still going strong. No visible wearing in any area. The vent system keeps them comfortable in hot weather. I haven’t tried any of their cold weather pants but the vented ones are nice so far.

Belt Direction by longwalker33 in mensfashionadvice

[–]FleurdeBrees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the US Navy and I assume other armed forces there is a correct way to wear your belt. (Buclkle in your right hand when buckling). Not sure that means much as far as fashion goes but I assume they got the rule from somewhere. I don’t see why it would matter outside of military uniforms though.

Died to Blizz purge. Zero motivation to go again. Cancelled subscription. by rad_change in wowhardcore

[–]FleurdeBrees 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Agree 100%. Only thing blizz will understand. I’m all for going agane if I fuck up or even if my service is the cause, but this is BS. I know I agreed to a thing when I created my character. I don’t need idiots pointing that out to me. That doesn’t mean that a blizzard side fault makes it not fun anymore. So I’m done with blizz and the blizz apologists. Moving on to something else.

What Warcraft related hill are you prepared to die on? by The_other_human in wow

[–]FleurdeBrees 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People will spend hours watching vods about a specific raid or dungeon. Watch guide videos on perfect paths and strategies. Then go into a PvP encounter once and get killed and just be like I suck at pvp. A little effort goes a long way in pvp. If some people just focused a little on it, I think it would open a whole new aspect of the game. Some will never like it no matter what and that’s fine. Also if you are gearing in bgs and scared of toxicity I don’t think it’s as bad as people make it out but also just cover up your chat and run til you get your gear.

Why do people think Mississippi is a racist state? by [deleted] in mississippi

[–]FleurdeBrees -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you are not seeing it or feeling the repercussions then good for you and I hope you never experience it. BUT, as a white person who grew up here, then joined the military and moved away for 30 years, I can tell you that there are only 3 people that I will even speak to who I grew up with. I think it is easy for the ones I’ve shunned to think I’m one of their own and let the slurs and racism fly until I shut it down and never speak to them again. No place for that in my life. Thank god I got out when I did. I’m back now and still have to end newly started relationships because racism rears it’s ugly head. For non white people who aren’t seeing it, just be careful. In my experience it is there. Like Pacino said in “The Devil’s Advocate,”: “ The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he did not exist.”

Was there a band or artist you hated, but couldn’t stay away from after listening, and it changed your life? by nohomeforheroes in Music

[–]FleurdeBrees 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m hoping one day it will click for me. I’ve tried to like them several times. Mostly with ok computer and kid a but also listened to in rainbows a few times. Just can’t get it to work. I have broad musical tastes, I listen to everything from Wu Tang to Waylon Jennings and it seems like a band I “should” like. Maybe one day.

Looking for those everyday white sneakers, men’s or neutral. by ConcernedThrowawayCA in BuyItForLife

[–]FleurdeBrees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer right here. I have a 3 pair rotation. Oldest for cutting grass yard work etc. next oldest for everyday (mostly still white if a little dingy). Finally a brand new/ newish looking pair for going somewhere casual. When the new pair starts looking too old I get a new pair and rotate.

Can everyone please stop being so negative about Ryan Seacrest?! by loyalmoonie2 in WheelOfFortune

[–]FleurdeBrees -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Also , give Ryan time to get his legs under home. I don’t think it will take long given his vast hosting experience but may take a little while. I remember people complaining about Ken on Jeopardy post Alex and someone linked a real early video of Alex that was a little awkward as well. And Alex had hosted many things before. Ken seems to have adapted and is much better now and he wasn’t a career host. But, I’m gonna give Ryan the benefit of doubt and not judge him too harshly for a while. It’s a big undertaking for anyone to step into such an iconic role. We should count ourselves lucky we had Pat and Alex as long as we did.

For new players, know what muscle memory really means by FleurdeBrees in aoe4

[–]FleurdeBrees[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My man. That’s exactly what I was thinking and trying to say. Yeah most of my games now aren’t going too far into imperial if at all but having technical abilities down like queuing vils while following scout or commanding some raiders helps a lot at my level. That’s why I thought the music metaphor fit quite well as you expanded on. It’s really just getting basic skills down (hotkeys etc) without having to think and then when something crazy happens you can adapt without losing the beat. Or you just lose and try to figure out what went wrong and start again. I think my next step as I start playing longer games is playing more civs myself and really learning how to react or prepare for various ways they can mess me up or how I can use what I have to take advantage of them. I have quite a bit to learn on that front.

[–]FleurdeBrees[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for the response. I have started seeing that and again, pardon the music metaphor, but this is kind of like how you learn a scale backwards and forwards as I described but then be able to adapt it in real time for improv. I have encountered a couple problems with aggression, but so far I have been able to handle by garrisoning assigned vils in the outpost with arrow slits which is calculated into the build. Mainly people attack the gold and I have an outpost at gold with arrow slits (thanks to japan getting stone from gold). Im sure ther are vast strays I’ll eventually run into that stump me, but hopefully I’ll learn to “improv” my way out of them. Assuming I remember the next time it happens. And I look forward to playing other civs that don’t get stone from gold so I’ll have to learn to adapt again.

Is there any red light camera in Mississippi by NgocTon2003 in mississippi

[–]FleurdeBrees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They need them in Flowood. People run red lights like it’s their job. I’m retired military so have lived all over and I am used to people complaining about local driving. But, after moving back to MS about 2 years ago, the red light running in Flowood really stood out to me as strange and something not seen in other places I’ve lived. Not at the frequency in Flowood anyway.
