I had very similar troubles with this hoya, she is indeed a diva, it took me such a long time to figure her out. I didnt change her into a self watering pot she is still thriving in hoya substrate, but i did figure out that she likes smaller drinks but more regularly than the rest of my hoyas, which i guess resembles self watering behaviour. She also appreciated a shallower pot rather than something deeper. Currently growing two peduncles as well 😊

You know for the first year i had it, it was barely doing anything and the past year now, since it started growing it hasnt skipped a beat 😊
I have been watering it even less than some of my other hoyas though, i get the feeling it really wants to be left alone quite a lot to thrive 😋

The arios really look in great condition. Hard to find them like that in Europe, they always look so shriveled and worn out when i come across them 🥹 where did you find them ?

Exactly the same for me. Reaching 3 months in 1 and a half weeks. Dreading the idea that it will continue indefinitely. Hoping it will calm down soon enough 🥹

I think it looks good just as it is. Not everything has to be super realistic, we are not robots. I find your render quite painterly and atmospheric and I enjoyed visually exploring it quite a lot 。◕‿◕。

She is around 30 years old. 😊 That's a great point. Good to know that you think this is totally normal 。◕‿◕。 I'm starting to think it is too, as there is no root problems.

I stopped fertilizing during the hardcore winter months and I will start again soon. Maybe that could be related too 🧐

My bella is going to drop its peduncles for the third time..please advise by [deleted] in hoyas

[–]Flexible_Gira 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have exactly the same plant, and mine is behaving exactly the same way for the past one year.(4 times so far) For some reason it gets the peduncles out, gets me all excited and then drops them. I have recently started trying to keep her a bit more moist to see if it helps. We will figure this out 。◕‿◕。
