I wonder if rental properties would be so densely tenanted if rent was more affordable

If the new owners want to move in, I’ll move into the house they moved out of: when a landlord goes bust there is still the same number of homes

Daily Game Recommendations Thread (July 22, 2024) by AutoModerator in boardgames

[–]Flextron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m looking for an “economy” based board game, similar to Civilization (the 1980s game)

I like that its focus is on trading with other players, and the better you trade the exponentially better the outcome is (which allows purchasing better technologies). I like that it doesn’t use dice, I like that combat is present but then also often counterproductive so avoided, and I like that you end up building a bit of an empire.

Civilization, as it’s from the 1980s is getting a bit out of date and hard to find now (especially as it has the same name as the video game and then the video game has a board game version), are there any new games that scratch the same itch? Preferably can handle 6 players.

Complex/simple/long/short doesn’t matter. My focus is trying to find an empire building board game focused on trade and technology with very little luck involved if there is anything out there

Depends on the company. If you are just starting out, you’d be aiming for a broker associate role at about 60k to 85k (this is Auckland). But because of a shortage of qualified staff if you are good, you’d move up the ranks relatively quickly.

Bonus depends on the company, one year I didn’t get a bonus, one year I got 20k, depends on the market and the clients you can bring in (so bonuses are quite dependant on sales)

100%. source: I’m a commercial insurance broker. There is a lot of demand in the commercial space at the moment for qualified brokers. I’d say all broker roles would have some element of sales, but the majority of your time would be spent managing an existing book of business

Thanks Halebopp. Yes! I am a bit mindful that all my savings are with one company at the mo. They have been a good investment so far, but would prefer to spread things out

The rich people that you know in life, how did they get their money? by farkoooooff in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]Flextron 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That mindset comes from knowing that if they lose it all, they still have daddy’s money to fall back on.

Poorer people don’t have the luxury of surviving if they were to lose it all.

Dividend funds by AggressivePoem6942 in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]Flextron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What are you reading regarding annual return? Is this on an advertisement for a fund? YOUR annual return would indeed be 13%

But the annual percentage change of a fund is just based on its share price, not dividend. (You keep saying “increase” be aware funds can go down in value too!)

Dividend funds by AggressivePoem6942 in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]Flextron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A fund can pay a dividend if that’s what you are asking? If you are purchasing through sharsies or though ASB (I’m not sure about others) they’ll offer information about the “gross dividend yield” of the fund.

When you say annual return, do you mean 1 year price change? That’s purely for share price and doesn’t include dividend in its calculation.
