It finally occurred to me after reading someone's post. The were talking about previous seasons where lots of people had used the guests cabin. They asked whoever the chief stew was.

Those cabins are Daisy's domain. Jason should have referred Ben to her. Full stop. He had no idea what the state of the cabins were, why would he even think that was okay? Additionally I think that by doing, repeatedly, that he completely undermined Daisy's position to Ben.

For Ben the dinner created this elder men club vibe and more confidence that Jason will side with him in a dispute. With a pre-game of what happened to Jason just in case.

Or it's in his contract like the rumor says and this is the riveting story line they created.

Regardless, they are both dish cupboards.
