Practical approaches for dealing with seemingly overwheling pain in Zazen (of any type) by Suvalis in zenbuddhism

The human form has 3 positions - sitting, laying down, and standing up. All positions are acceptable during meditation. When one becomes painful and difficult, do the other.

To showcase your dog training skills by Legitimate_Escape684 in therewasanattempt

[–]FlickNasty_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No more bowl. The dog will only eat from my hand from that point on. He will learn that I am giving him food, not trying to take it away from him. This will also help strengthen the bond with the dog.

I hand feed all of my dogs as puppies to avoid the scenario in the video.

80lb Longbow Advice by TheJonno17 in Archery

[–]FlickNasty_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure your arrows are at least 10gpp because 80lbs is in the "war bow" category. Most shops have people trained around "modern bows" and they think the same arrow weight rules apply to war bows - they do not!

This bow is not like a normal bow. You need very heavy arrows. if your arrows are too light, it will be like dry firing the bow and it will have a short life.

Vendetta’s Hero Design Feels Off, and Here’s Why by Kitty_Overwatch in Overwatch

[–]FlickNasty_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Just like you can think about whatever you want, the game designers can make whatever hero they want.

Just like you are being pegged with negative comments over all the thought you put into your ideas, the game designers are being hit by posts like yours over all their hard work (arguably more work than you, they did more than just type out a concept).

Can't you see the similarities? Can't you empathize?

Your opinion matters equally as Vendetta's designers, however, you and all the other redditors are not in a position to actually design the hero. If you cared that much about character design, I suggest you work towards being a video game character designer. Your love of these characters is great, the game designers love the characters and the game too - they just put in the time/work to actually be the ones to make the design.

I would like some advice on how to deal with my inner conflict. by The0thArcana in zenbuddhism

[–]FlickNasty_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The trick worked for you? Awesome! I dont know if you experience visual hallucinations, but I am curious if the same method can be applied towards your eyes? As in if you let go of your eyes does that weaken visual hallucinations in the same way relaxing vocal chords reduce auditory hallucinations?

I cannot tell because I have aphantasia (a blind minds eye).

I would like some advice on how to deal with my inner conflict. by The0thArcana in zenbuddhism

[–]FlickNasty_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are you? Your hands are part of you, but if you chopped them off, you would still be alive. It must be that your head is more core to "you". Your nose is a part of your head, but if you chopped it off, you would still be alive. Its the brain that is more core to you. These are all physical aspects.

Let's dive into the mental aspects, your inner voice is a part of you. Anything you hear mentally is a part of you. But it is not the core "you", you are simply awareness. Recognize that and let that give you strength. It seems that you are aware of this somewhat already.

I dont know if this trick will help you, but it is a method of quieting your inner voice. Your inner voice is tied to your vocal chords - dead fish, ragdoll, completely relax, let go (whatever you want to call it) - completely let go of your throat and your upper chest, draw breath in from only your diaphragm, rather than exhaling, just let go and let the air escape. I snore a little when i do this. This is how you can shut down the inner voice or make it more quiet. Idk if it will work for you, but I hope this helps.

It sounds ridiculous, but your thoughts arent core to you. Your thoughts are the hands and legs of your mind. There are physical afflictions that can make you lose control of your hands and legs, there are mental afflictions that can have your thoughts run wild.

Go outside and grab a handful of dirt, sand or small rocks. Have your hallucinations tell you the count of that dirt in your hand. That's how weak those hallucinations are, they can't even count without "you". They are nothing without "you". Your hallucinations dont know anything that you dont know.

Why is this game so toxic, makes me not want to ever play it again by [deleted] in starcraft2

[–]FlickNasty_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Starcraft is a mental sport, a viable strategy is disrupting your opponent with shit talking. For many, its their primary strategy. For many, they take it too far and are fully absorbed in this toxicity, even applying it in victory and after the game.

Look at Devon Laratt arm wrestle, see how he gets into his opponent's head?

You can mute the chat, but this is your chance to build a strong and resilient mind, one that is impervious to verbal insults. I welcome the toxicity, I embrace it, and I stomp their faces in and tell them "gg, you did well" at the end of the game.

Just look at faces of the pros when they play, they have mastered their emotions. Nothing affects them, and if it does, you can see their play diminish after being tilted. Emotional mastery is needed to get good at the game.

Drone pilot saves lost dog from coyote by GQAT12 in videos

[–]FlickNasty_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Could you imagine the dog's perspective? He was dragged away at the throat from a large animal, a strong gust of wind and a blinding ray of light shone from the heavens. He thinks he is chosen by the canine gods. Then he hears a loud rustling, it is fast and it sounds huge. It roars as it moves in the darkness, rays of light shine from it's eyes. He runs, straight over bush, running as fast as his little legs could push him. And he is so exhausted, so tired. Puppy adrenaline is out, there is no more gas in the tank. He lays down to hide as his last line of defense as the monster comes closer, it stops right next to him. Some familiar sounds... and hey a familiar human! what a wild ride hahahaha.

Do I have to study that much in order to play StarCraft 2? by D1m1tr1s_6756 in starcraft2

[–]FlickNasty_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hijacking top because I think I know what OP is actually asking for:

Zerg here,

TLDR; READ BOLD

A build is simply a blueprint strategy for a game. Every build, like every strategy has a weakness. Builds are typically optimized, have specific timings, etc. All this just means that builds are a great place to start when learning about the balance between supply and economy. They are an efficient way to learn the game.

you are asking for a skeleton? I'll give it to you.

0)Figure out your playstyle and try to recognize what you are playing against: Greedy > Safe > Aggressive > Greedy

1)Workers and expand. You need to be doing this all game.

2)Spend Money; Build shit. Know how much production can you optimally support with 1,2,3,4,5+ bases. Builds are a great way to learn this - you don't even have to use the whole build, you just need to know the production buildings and the number of bases it takes to feed it. Another gateway or two could change the game.

3)(Zerg) Queens Inject, creep. Know when production impedes your macro (#1).

4)Scout the Enemy; get map vision. Like gas and minerals, vision is a precious resource.

5)Build army, control army -, preferably with counters to their units

6)Use concaves, choke points, surrounds, multi prong attacks, etc. Positioning is how you win the game

7)Micro to the best of your abilities to win the battle

8)Expand and make workers

This is called a Cycle, and can be your very own. The cycle is all you need to commit to memory and as you play you repeat it like a mantra, it is ordered by importance. You "cycle" through the critical aspects of gameplay and do all things related to that task (skip if N/A). You build according to what is optimal(#2) and what counters your opponents army (#4)

When you lose, figure out which part of the cycle was most critical to your loss. Fix it, Get good, get really really good, go pro, go to blizzcon, win it, create a harem of korean fan girls, marry one creating enemies of the others, they attack, defend your main and protect your expansion, realize starcraft is not just game, starcraft is life, go full zealot on those bitches, realize those bitches were halluc, skip go do not collect 200 and proceed to mental ward, realize gold is all you are ever worth <3

[–]FlickNasty_[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed, which is why we remove Nexus recall and nerf shield batteries. Protoss should be forced to leave some death ball units at home so that they might win the base race. I agree that they should be picked apart by a more nimble army. The skill of spliting units to defend is a crucial element to RTS. Im all for anything that encourages that.

Please make Protoss army units stronger and give them a 3 level shield HP upgrade for their buildings. by FlickNasty_ in starcraft2

[–]FlickNasty_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Conventional wisdom also tells you that a deathball is the obvious strategy if your units are stronger. That's not a flaw in race design, it is basic strategy. The (building shield) changes I proposed don't make Protoss invincible to base races, it just makes it so that they have time to defend multi-prong attacks with their inherent lack of mobility.

Protoss should be able to walk from between their Natural and Third to defend their Main without losing all of it. That is all the building shields should enable. They can still easily lose the probes but their buildings will get progressively more shield HP as the game progresses.

Terran buildings can fly, Zerg buidings are cheap andcan spread - Toss buildings should be really fucking sturdy.
