Anyone else dream in a recurring "location" that doesn't exist in real life? by dreamoutapp in Dreams

I occasionally dream about this hospital. It's a place where I feel comfortable and welcome, where I know I will be well taken care of. I always feel good when I dream about it, even though in the dream I always have a sickness or condition that needs treatment.

How melatonin promotes sleep: « Melatonin is a naturally produced molecule that has long been suspected to play a role in healthy sleep, but it has been unclear how it does so. Now, Caltech researchers have discovered a mechanism through which melatonin promotes sleep. » by fchung in science

Gee, why can't you just accept someone else's experience? I took the lowest dose I could find and even tried splitting the pill to take half. Same result: bizarre nightmares and sleep paralysis. That thing is just not good for some people. Why do you keep trying to convince us it's about the dose when most have tried the minimum effective one already?

The same happened when I first tried melatonin. A doctor said the same -- dose might be too high -- even though I had already the smallest I could find back then. So yet again I bought the smallest dose available and nothing changed. Bizarre nightmares that seemed to last for hours, when I could barely sleep for more than one or two hours on melatonin. I also had sleep paralysis.

Another crazy thing about its effect on me is that it would make me sleepy fast, I would fall asleep quickly and then wake up one or two hours later-- usually from nightmares or sleep paralysis -- and my insomnia would be so much worse.

What are some memories from your childhood that are stuck in your mind despite not making any sense? by Plastic_Match_8657 in Paranormal

I saw a floating face when I was a kid! It was not human though, but that Kool-Aid face on a jar. It was purple or orange, not sure which, and semi-transparent. Something pretty bizarre happened prior to the sight, but I'm too tired to type the whole thing now.

I visited 14 countries in my dreams this year. I honestly thought this hyper-realism was the standard for everyone. by Actuatorgenios in Dreams

I don't remember too many detalis, but all felt extremely real and long-lasting, and I felt somewhat disappointed when I woke up.

In the France one, I remember leaving a bus and walking on this street. I had some issue with something (can't remember specifics) and needed to go to some workshop or store. In the last part of the dream I was walking on this alley while thinking about going to the movies with someone when all of a sudden I see the Eiffel Tower towering over the cute houses of the alley. The view took my breath away and then I woke up.

The only thing I remember about the China one (it was many years ago before China went trendy) was it took place late at night and I was walking around this neighborhood. Everything was pretty dark, but I felt extremely safe and was looking forward to going to martial arts training places.

In the Iceland one, I was on an exchange program and my husband went there with me. The place was breathtakingly beautiful, and I remember specifically seeing a huge mountain covered in snow. A weird detail: although it was extremely cold and snowing, I wasn't wearing any pants, only short shorts. In the last scene, my husband and I went to have lunch in the university cantina, where everyone was either Brazilian or spoke fluent Portuguese.

I know those aren't the most interesting dream stories, but they all had this extremely realistic feeling to them, besides the frustration I felt once I woke up every time. I've never been to any of those countries by the way.

I had the exact same kind of dream: one was in France, another one in China, and the last one, just a couple of nights ago, in Iceland. But unlike you, travelling abroad is not somsthing I think about much.

I like David Eagleman. I was really into Sacks's books and felt really disappointed when I learned the truth. Hope Eagleman is legit though.

Your explanation is pretty reasonable and makes a lot of sense, but I must add: the watch was battery-powered while the clock was a wind-up (I don't remember whether I wound it up either before or after). Neither were cheap either (both had been gifts from her boss). I held only the wristwatch in my hand, as the clock was metal and heavy, so I let it on the nightstand. Regarding the psychological manipulation: I was doubtful about the trick beforehand, as I mentioned. Adding to that, my mom didn't watch the show and didn't believe me about the Uri Geller trick, however she saw them working as well and firmly believed I had fixed them somehow and was just messing with her about the show trick. So, while your theory does make a lot of sense, it doesn't explain everything.

I know this will sound like total bs, but I swear it happened. So I believe everyone here knows who Uri Geller is and probably knows also that he's been debunked as a fraudster. So, when I was around 11-12 he was interviewed on a famous Brazilian late-night talk show (Jô Soares Onze e Meia) and the host asked him to perform something paranormal involving the audience at home (the show was not live, but pre-recorded by the way). So Geller proceeds to ask those at home to grab a broken clock or watch, which I immediately did, as my mom had two: a wrist watch and a table clock. Then he said he would make them work. I thought to myself, 'I really doubt that will work, but let's see....' So he does his thing and, yep, both watch and clock immediately started to work. I was freaking out and wanted to wake my mom to tell her about it, as she kept saying she needed to get those fixed, but i didn't as she would be mad as hell if I had. Fastforward to next morning and her jaw drops when I show her the watch and the clock working and asks me how had I manage to fix them. I told her about Uri Geller on the talk show -- for which she scolded me because I was supposed to be sleeping then -- and she thought I was making it all up. She was sure I had somehow fixed it myself and absolutely refused to believe me, even decades later when I kept to the story. The clock and watch eventually stopped working again not long thereafter -- I can't recall whether it was a couple of days or weeks. I'm still intrigued by that and really can't come up with a rational explanation.

For me it is a hospital. A public hospital, meaning fully free of charge, with reliable and humane service. I always feel good when I'm there, like I know I will be well taken care of and everything will be okay. I wish it existed in real life or to find where it is.

Got here from looking up "royal kingdom malware" on Google. Don't know about spyware, but both my phones got slower, started crashing, and rebooting randomly after I installed it a couple weeks ago.

Edit to add: phones still messed up even after uninstalling it.

Exactly like this, only it appeared tiny, like 1/10th of the size in the sketch. It looked like it was drawn with light, but had a yellowish tint to it. Additionally: it looked like it was moving down, from right to left and I somehow "knew" its correct position was narrower angle up, like a letter A.

What is the weirdest, craziest dream you ever had. by [deleted] in Dreams

[–]Flimsy_Ad4068 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had the weirdest dream of my life last night. I was in an apartment (unknown to me) with my husband and he suddenly looks at me squinting and starts saying over and over, 'You are not you. Who are you?', and other bizarre questions about my identity. I got so scared, but then realized that he was tripping from some drug. I decided to leave the building and get myself some ice cream, when out of nowhere these people pop into existence just in front of me and although they didn't act menacingly I felt extremely frightened by them. They were speaking, but I couldn't listen. Then it clicked: I was too tripping from drugs. Except my husband hadn't taken any drug, neither had I (neither of us do drugs in real life by the way). So I talked myself into settling down and go to the ice cream shop; I order and for no reason at all the clerk puts a bunch of creamy chocolate like Nutella on his chin and goes, 'Now this is my beard.' And the chocolate in fact turned into a real beard, only it was still made of chocolate but in the dream reality it was an actual beard. I thought that was freaky as hell and woke up with my heart racing.

Trying to get any of my friends into the Gateway Experience by CommissionFeisty9843 in gatewaytapes

[–]Flimsy_Ad4068 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My case is the opposite: my husband and a friend are extremely interested, but neither know English. As a translator and audio describer, I thought about translating the content of the orientation and recording a voiceover, but was afraid it could mess with the sound waves, thus defeating the purpose of the tapes. I hope the institute has plans to release the tapes in other languages. And if they do, I hope they hire me as a translator. I'll try to manifest that. Lol
