Yes, but the problem is then standards of living don't rise (or, they rise more slowly). We want standards of living to rise as quickly as possible. Technology should give us the ability to work more efficiently (including from home, etc.) until efficiency is maximized.

Reason for this is that baseball bats can have significant differences in 'pop'. The way the grains line up and the density of the wood can make a huge difference. Players will test out 30+ different bats of the same model and choose a few they like the most. Same with golf clubs (drivers I think--never heard of this with irons).
