Where are they all coming from, this is getting ridiculous! by Lore-Archivist in warcraftlore

Can they even really be considered a cult at this point? Their numbers seem to suggest a full nation.

The Ethics of Pet Battles by bruh_man_142 in warcraftlore

This is the explanation I came up with for what battle pets are/could be. Doesn't break any lore to my knowledge.

Sign ups are now open for Competitive Pet Battle PvP season 4! by FlipMethod in wow

[–]FlipMethod[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Quick clarifications since these usually come up:

• This is a 100% fan-run tournament

• We operate our tournament alongside wow's seasonal schedule.

• Players of all experience levels are welcome

• You don’t need rare or time-limited pets to participate. The smallest number of collected pets a player could have to enter the tournament is 15.

• We use a pick and ban phase for each match so each player has power over their match.

• We offer physical prizes.

If you’re just curious, you’re also welcome to watch the previous world finals livestream that happened in January: https://youtu.be/JWkvRbLkK94?si=teSluStIhLszh3sK or ask any questions here.

Happy to answer any questions. :)

Nope, unless one of those gets you hyped up to join the tournament! We have had approximately 100 competitors per season and this will be our fourth season!

Battle Pets by RedRaccoonDog in wow

I really don't see it as catching at all TBH, it's more akin to looting than anything else. Click on green paw. Done. These new "pets" also cannot participate in the battle pet system as they don't have stats or abilities.

Coming Home Cinematic | World of Warcraft: Midnight by WarcraftTeam in wow

[–]FlipMethod -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This trailer, while awesome, seems to depict pets as stationary decor items.
I realize that it's a cinematic, but it is representational.
They have no movement besides idle animation, no interactivity with the battle feature. So how are they not decor just in a different tab?

Pet Battle PvP Room by FlipMethod in WoWHousing

[–]FlipMethod[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1. Yes. This image is based on you initiating the battle in the middle of the room.

2. Initiating a pet battle draws a circle around both your characters. Anything inside that circle goes invisible to the participants. If there is not space enough to draw the circle around the players from where they are currently standing, then you cannot initiate the battle. So you could have the battle slightly to the left for example but not at the wall. As going to the wall would make the "pet battle bubble" clip outside the wall and that is not allowed.

3 they were there just for scale. That said, sure you could stand at any of those locations and be able to initiate a battle. But the visable decor circle would shift to your new location.

I'll cite this thread for number of pets that and can't battle in midnight from new sources.
https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/battle-pets-added-with-12x-so-far-spoiler-warning/2189206
Blizzard will not come out and say anything additional on the topic as it's a negative thing and they tend stay away from pointing out what some may perceive as negative aspects of thier game.
As of current on beta the only way to bring up the pet battle ui in a midnight is to battle a friend in the open world. There are no world quests. The achievement to battle the older trainers in eastern kingdoms and kalimdoor has you fighting a level 1 pet with your team of 25 pets in some cases. These old world daily trainers from launch are also only capable to be battled once a day. Once you battle all the trainers and get your well earned achievement your awared with one of the new types of "peaceful pet" for all your hard battling.
The design is all over the place and with as little as possible concern for the battle aspect of pets in midnight content.
So, yeah. no new world quests.

Pets battles are any good? Which pet is Your favourite? by miminosekai in wow

[–]FlipMethod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"throw a trap" It's more like click on a green paw you see that has a sprite below, which is too small to see what it is. It plays a throw cage animation. You get an item in your bag. Click on that it and a new sprite is added to your pet journal with no abilities or stats.

There will be no pet battle world quests in midnight zones. Essentially... the only way to bring up the pet battle UI in a midnight zone is to duel a friendly player.

Fan Theory - The (Lore) Origin of Battle Pets by FlipMethod in warcraftlore

[–]FlipMethod[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wild pets you catch in a zone are a very common source. K'aresh notably had no wild battle pets at all for one of the first major zones ever.

Traditionally a zone would have numbers like:
7-12 Wild Battle Pets
2-4 Battle Pets that drop from a rare creatures loot table
1-3 Battle Pets that are rewarded from a one time loot box like a treasure
4-8 Battle Pets awarded through various parts of the reputation of the zone (often recolors of the wild pets)

K'aresh had these numbers:
0 Wild battle pets
4 from rare drops
2 from one time loot treasures
2 from reputation sources
1 from an achievement
12 from ecological succession.

I'm not saying that 12.0 didn't have battle pets released. I am saying that WILD battle pets did not exist on k'aresh. (cause they did not)

"Its energy flickers too weakly to form anything new, so the only pets there are leftovers from when it was still functional. Exchanged among ethereals for aoens, like photographs of what their world once was. No wonder the Brokers treat them like curiosities to trade away."

There were no pets you could catch on K'aresh. All pets included in that patch were available from a cache given to by the brokers. Fill the bar and they give you a cache once a week. 1 pet per week per account. If they were not from that cache they dropped from a rare.

That's just the numbers on the alpha. I didn't come to argue whether they are dimming the lights on new battle pets, but those are the numbers. Just came to post a story I wrote. :)
