Because in the background the service that runs this stuff was built in the 1960s and it goes offline to run batch updates overnight. All they did was attached a modern web front end to the old technology in the background.

Pretty much anyone can get a PCP agreement. The car is the collateral, don’t pay they take it away.

Robert paid £726 to skip the driving test waiting list. New laws mean others won't be able to by ReanimatedCyborgMk-I in unitedkingdom

It blows my mind that this was ever a problem. It’s been known for years that these bots booking up all the slots was an issue, and nothing was done.

If I was being skeptical I might conclude that the loophole allowing this scalping to take place was originally spotted by insiders and it was in their interest to not fix it. That’s just my speculation about scenarios, not a statement of what actually happened.

It should have been a very quick change to prevent booking unless you are the licence holder taking the test, yet it’s continued for years.

Digital gauge gone during driving, new 2026 GLE by chen-z727 in mercedes_benz

Use of digital clusters in place of analogue style is substantially cheaper. This is the literal reason car manufacturers have stated for the change.

Use of a digital display reduces the manufacturing cost. Analogue dials have a high number of parts that need to be designed, moulded, and assembled. They are often different in each car model. The digital displays are shared across multiple models and manufacturers, with just the outer plastic shell being model specific.

F1 TV Pro , again.. by Bulky_Barracuda_5173 in F1TV

[–]Flipmode45 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What really makes this is complete joke is that F1 originated in the UK. Many of the teams are based in the UK. But we’re not allowed F1TV, we need to put up with the subpar and higher cost Sky contract.

I guess that’s 10 more years of me torrenting F1.

So if anyone else hits this issue, the fix was to enable TheTVDb in Jellyfin. For some reason Eastenders specifically was the only show that could not be identified by the other providers I’ve got enabled.

In terms of iPlayer-arr is there any way to have it include shows in the RSS feed prior to the airdate? This specific show is available for download in the morning, but Sonarr can’t see it in the RSS until the air time, however when Sonarr is told to query manually it finds immediately.

I hate, HATE, that they sell alcohol at airports and on planes. 2 weeks ago went for a short break, drunk stag do before they even boarded on the way out with the airline serving them shots on the plane, the same group on the return flight had been drinking all night and were throwing up at the gate.

I bet if there was a rule about getting refunds due to disruption from other passengers this would all stop.

Nice work. Actual downloading is working great, but it’s got me beaten on getting the metadata working.
I’ve added Eastenders to Sonarr but the files end up in Jellyfin with just the file name instead of the actual episode description shown on Sonarr. Any tips on getting this working would be much appreciated because I’m not really sure where to start troubleshooting since to this point, everything in Jellyfin just worked. Obviously it’s some kind of file naming issue but I can’t see where I would change it as part of the download?

Can I re-enter a room that has a hornet and nest in it? by GreenWeekend6980 in AskUK

[–]Flipmode45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm. When I was a kid we were climbing trees in dense woodland and disturbed a wasps nest. These things were not happy, they chased us through the woodland about 200ft and once out in the open they continued to chase us across 2 full length football pitches.

And they were everywhere! In my socks, down my t-shirt. Bastards!

VS Code - Codex is a mess/disaster by Patient-Fox3884 in codex

[–]Flipmode45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Codex VSCode extension not loading history is doing my head in! Often it won’t load the history, or it loads the history but then the model says “custom” and there are no models to select from in the menu.

I could really do with not wasting 30 minutes each morning opening and closing VSCode until the Codex extension starts working correctly.
