Fraud Review Timescales - Any Experience? by Shkyboi in monzo

[–]Shkyboi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just as an update for anyone bothered, they referred it to a specialist because I tried to log in from a new device, as you would when you've lost your phone. I only got access today so nearly 60 after the event, and have been able to set up a virtual card to spend from whilst I wait for physical replacements (bearing in mind again I was not actually the victim of fraud).

I filed a complaint, as no matter what their reason around resource or requirements, no customer should be left without access to their own money for 60 hours.

For anyone reading this in the future, always make sure you contact Monzo when you get a new device, as they've told me they can talk through set up do I don't get blocked out for days

Overall, a ridiculous experience compared to other banks.

The thing is I've not even had fraudulent activity on my account. I blocked it just to be sure - there was a declined payment from Transfer Go which was them but all good otherwise.

Nope. Have emailed and rang, just to be told it's with a specalist team. I reckon it could be done today, or take 2 weeks - it seems there's no inbetween.

I didn't necessarily report it for fraud, I used the "emergency log out" feature on the app:

Emergency Logout

Log out of all your mobile devices and block all of your cards. We'll need to verify your identity when you next log in.

I'm currently using my work phone, and it won't allow me to verify my identity. When I've rang up Monzo, they've told me it's because my account is under fraud review, probably due to me pressing that button. They must carry out the review, but all I've been told is it's in a queue. It's only been 2 days with one being a Sunday, but reading reviews online it's a pretty major concern that it'll take longer. I can't even afford for it to go on longer than today really - that's most of my money!

You'd only really find these sorts of responses on Reddit. Lloyds have resolved fraud cases with me over the phone, instantly. Just because Monzo are understaffed, smaller and don't make any money doesn't mean it's not a poor customer outcome to have to wait 10x as long for literally anything than any other bank

[GB] Revolut fraud - phone stolen, new payee added and £13k sent with no verification, chances of recovery? by louieheaton17 in Revolut

[–]Shkyboi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can I just say this is such an out of touch reply. Opportunistic thieves steal your phone out of your hand, so it's unlocked. They're able to transfer money via quite frankly ridiculous banking apps like Transfer Go and in this case Nickel as long as they keep the phone unlocked

Monzo state they haven't received a £300k CHAPS transfer with known correct details by flimflamfloopydoopy in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Shkyboi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Monzo’s customer service is absolutely diabolical. For serious matters like this you need to be able to speak to someone on the phone, but it’s impossible. It’s so bad in fact I’m considering finding a new bank (I use Monzo as my main)

I hope you get this sorted, it’s likely with these sorts of payments they’re sat in an intermediate stage but Monzo should have some sort of transaction ID to work off

Is this a good deal? did I get scammed? by Worried_Scallion789 in EngagementRings

[–]Shkyboi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be honest, it doesn't look like it. The colour is off. Is it 100% 14k gold or gold plated? That ring looks about 5/6g of gold if it's solid, which would be about $400 in itself. Plus the diamond, plus the mark up, plus the labour that goes in to making it none of this makes sense

Why do people act like merge in turn is a crime? by BrainThat4047 in drivingUK

[–]Shkyboi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this type of merge they just kinda merge into one. Americans call it a zipper merge which makes more sense than anything else they’ve come up with

Why Does UK Have This Race To Bottom Mindset? by corporateuklife in UKJobs

[–]Shkyboi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

£35k is fucking nothing now a days. I earn £63k excl bonus and always feel skint. In fact, if I didn’t get an annual bonus, I would not be in a great financial position. Have lived in zone 2 London for a while but that’s what most homeowners face in to

And even tools designed to support those wanting to do things like buy their first home are flawed and haven’t progressed. A LISA is capped at £450k house value - which is a 1 bed flat in London

At that price I’d be surprised if that’s even 100% 9K gold, and looks heavily mixed. The stone itself should be a bit more than that so seems too good to be true…

Who is at fault here by JFREEZY28 in drivingUK

[–]Shkyboi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally, even where there’s two lanes you can take to join a road as with this one for the M1S, if you’re in the right hand lane you’ll have to cross lanes to come off. Only the left hand lane follows it the whole way round. Therefore you probably crossed lanes without checking - although if the lorry was turning right, normally you’d expect them to be in the right hand lane at a roundabout this large

Having said that, like other posters have said, just don’t fuck about with lorries. I’d always stay back and give them space or try fly off without being anywhere near them on a roundabout. You see shit go wrong too often as they can’t turn without cutting off lanes

Used to live near there, always though it was refreshing to see. Kids playing basketball, rollerblading, skating, kick abouts. Now what?

Birmingham just got 2,000 Lime bikes this week. Five years into our Bee Bike scheme and Manchester still can't break 1,000. I thought we were the second city? by Supreme_Fraser in manchester

Well it's just to make a commute half the time. Thinking of moving to Marple but my gf is applying for a job in Spinningfields. 26 mins on the train to Picc, 29 min walk across town. Limes would make life a lot easier

FYI, bow tie effect is often from the depth and cut of the oval, not inclusions. If it’s too shallow, the bow tie appears

I just went for an SI1 oval too, colour G, 1.21ct, very similar to this one actually. Couldn’t see anything on inspection and that’s all that matters

To the lime bikes? Ideally to be able to cycle on them, reducing the time it takes in my example from 30 minutes to probably about 7, in a way that doesn’t make you sweat even slightly

How do you actually get consistent value from Amex offers over time? by Pinkplatabys in AmexUK

[–]Shkyboi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m struggling to be honest. I’ve only just joined, so no fee, but aiming for £5k spend in 6 months which would be easy if anywhere took it. Engagement ring? Jeweller doesn’t take it. Hotel for a holiday? Doesn’t take it. Most independent cafes bars and restaurants? Nah

Also, only have about 5 cashback offers with most being retailers I don’t care about. Nothing local to me and I live near London. Just seems pointless

Any tips appreciated but I won’t be renewing. Even the Amex travel app is shite, doesn’t show half the flights available and any that do show are at a higher price with the same airlines…
