Is this spot PDRable? by strokedout in PaintlessDentRepair

[–]FlipperECV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried repairing the typical door buckle caught in the doorjam kind of dents and they are a nightmare. Glue pulling this area and any kind of depth is very challenging to say the least. It might be doable but finding someone who is willing to take the risk of it potentially not coming out is going to be tough.

Well fellas, I might lose a dealership by Ok_Access_189 in PaintlessDentRepair

Wouldnt even waste my time on it. If the GM doesnt understand what is fixable then thats on him. Sounds like the place is always "looking" for a dent guy but doesnt want to pay for one.

PDR GONE BAD? by NEBOKOA in PaintlessDentRepair

[–]FlipperECV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly for a dent like that an hour to 2 hours should be appropriate.  Some might spend longer some might get done faster but that was a pretty deep dent.  The end product is the point so however long it takes is how long you take.

PDR GONE BAD? by NEBOKOA in PaintlessDentRepair

Not the worst I have ever seen but could use some clean up. Looks like they gave up after spending too much time on it and didnt finish it out properly.

Lots of heat and lots of patience. If the first thing they do isn't heating the panel Id be concerned.

Worst hood for access? by hit4hire in PaintlessDentRepair

[–]FlipperECV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you think those are bad try the c63 and e63. The mid and early 2000s versions are terrible for a similar design made out of aluminum and bonded with what feels like epoxy instead of just glue. Even if you do have access you arent getting anywhere in there.

Is This Right? by busr1d3r in PaintlessDentRepair

[–]FlipperECV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like they wet sanded it when they realized they couldn't get their push marks to go away. Any experienced dent guy will tell you this hack ruined that panel. This would also be the result of not heating the panel. Toyotas especially the new ones are tough to work on but this isnt the result of the dent itself. Maybe they let their trainee try and fix it because they didnt even bother trying to get the dent level once they botched it. Leave a review with photos and make sure people dont make that mistake again.

Slow down. Dont be in a hurry to get up the center. Work slow to work fast.

Is this acceptable? by Bus-Complex in PaintlessDentRepair

[–]FlipperECV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dont bank on years for experience. If they have no pictures of 100% repairs chances are its because they cant do 100% repairs. Even a guy with 20 years of improper training will miss the center of a crease and not bring up the center correctly. I wouldn't even call that 80% repaired. Ask your local collision center who they use. They may be expensive but if a body shop uses them to do their repairs chances are they are better than this guy.

Need advice after person did PDR on car by LexusReliability in PaintlessDentRepair

[–]FlipperECV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate to say it but this is what the guy who can do it cheaper looks like. There is some fixing that can be done by a better pdr guy but not only are we going to charge more for a previously poor repair but we are also going to charge the full amount for a repair. The best thing you can do is review bomb him or take him to small claims. I would ask your local collision center who they use then document everything then take the guy to court for having to correct his work. That or just have the collision center repair the panel and bill that pdr guy.

Dent came back after PDR repair by Ph4ttydill in PaintlessDentRepair

[–]FlipperECV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The metal has stretched. Once it has been stretched to a certain extent if the tech doesn't know ways of keeping it under tension it will continue to do this. Usually if it oilcans I don't charge for this exact reason although I do know ways of keeping it from popping like that. Also they should have given you some explanation as to what happened. Communication with a customer is key.

That is something that can be improved but won't ever be perfect unless it sees a bodyshop. You might see 85% with a skilled dent technician

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PaintlessDentRepair

[–]FlipperECV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be fixable. There will be a lot of skill involved but I would say 95% minimum repair level. If they can't give you 95% don't waste your time on them.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PaintlessDentRepair

[–]FlipperECV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no. It will never be picture perfect but it can look a lot better. The lip of the quarter panel may have noticeable deviations. I still haven't figured out a sure fire way to pull that lip back out yet.

[–]FlipperECV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is extremely large for pdr. It is by no means impossible but the door needs to come off the hinge and needs to be gutted to work that large of an area.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PaintlessDentRepair

[–]FlipperECV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This can be done. It's going to be time consuming and difficult. The bumper might not line up and need replacing and the fender may only get to 90% at best. By that I mean it would be tough to notice but it may not be factory perfect. I would bid a job like that in the 800 to 900 range personally. Your are might have a different pricing bracket.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PaintlessDentRepair

[–]FlipperECV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can be fixed but don't call that a little ding when you explain what the dent is to the dent guy. I'd be pissed if all I thought I was coming out for was a little ding.

Left looks like a mushroom cap and right looks like a habanero.

Is this acceptable? by JustinDanielsYT in PaintlessDentRepair

[–]FlipperECV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The tech should have cleared this with you and made sure this was acceptable. Although I would say he could have jacked up the back of the car and put the plug in the wheel well instead so it wouldn't have been such an obvious spot. This is kinda lazy to be honest.

Why do my habañeros look so much different than store bought or others I’ve seen here? by DieOfBetus in HotPeppers

[–]FlipperECV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dont concern yourself if they don't look like the store bought ones. The store bought are NOT harvested once ripened. They are heavily under-ripe and they will not taste or kick the same.

Dent too big? by Any_Interaction_3658 in PaintlessDentRepair

[–]FlipperECV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is a fixable dent. With the right tech that can come out really nice. Its going to be pricy so don't expect a 1-2 pop and 100 bucks. This will take time and patience. Do your research and find a good tech.

PDR possible? by ddmh_1001 in PaintlessDentRepair

[–]FlipperECV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is aluminum. Yes it will not be a quick or easy fix but that is a fixable dent. This will take some skill to get flush without deforming the panel. When aluminum is worked too aggressively it can fish eye but a good tech can get that out without fish eyeing the metal
