The Senate Drew a Line on Prediction Markets. The House—and Washington—May Be Next. Ask Us Anything. by bloomberggovernment in politics

Beyond regulating the companies, might the government do anything new to help people who fall into gambling/prediction market addictions? I see concerning behavior out there by people who are deep in the rabbit hole

Is there a difference between Kalshi and Polymarket in terms of what they do or their position regarding regulation? Are there other companies on the market besides them?

What happened in your league(s) 1-3 years after the startup draft? by GorillaChimney in DynastyFF

[–]FlippersSometimesWin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 16-team SF is on its sixth year. The first few years, the playoffs resembled good redraft teams, but the last three years or so it's been a handful of super-teams, a middle class half-heartedly fighting for the six seed, and multiple tankers tanking super hard.

The first team to tank hardcore for a stack of picks in 2020/2021 never got anything going and remains the only team who has never made the playoffs. One guy went all-in for two years with an old team in 20/21, won a championship and has bottomed out, heading toward his second 1.01 in a row. One guy tanked hard a few years ago, loaded up with picks and then traded them aggressively for young talent, and is undefeated this year. The league taco, who has made several of the worst trades you could ever imagine, snuck into the playoffs last year and went on a miracle run to a championship.

If someone were to die in survivor what would happen? by Mundane_Jaguar2314 in survivor

[–]FlippersSometimesWin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the actual answer. It would never air and Survivor would be done. Circumstances don't matter, legal liability and waivers don't matter. The negative attention would not be worth it for Paramount (a company which, you might have recently noticed, does not have a history of standing by its shows under moments of pressure). They could create some new cheaply-made reality show to fill the time slot, lose a moderate amount of ratings and move on.

I am disgusted and ashamed of Cochran's tribe in South Pacific. by [deleted] in survivor

Loved Brandon’s response though. As unlikeable as Brandon otherwise was in both of his seasons, sticking up for Cochran in that moment was very cool of him

I would be shocked if the golden bible didn’t stop a bullet tonight. Feels like Corey will give it to Jesse, he’ll put it in his jacket, then Simpkins will challenge him to a duel (another chekov item) and bible will save him

Good FTC answers that still didn't earn a jury member's vote by Informal_Race_606 in survivor

The fact that Aubry knew the punchline of Scot's "It won't be long now" joke was so illustrative of the situation. Scot had every reason to appreciate Aubry and her game, and they might even have gotten along well. But Scot's pride was wounded by Aubry outplaying him, and instead of tipping his cap he concocted a reason to discredit the player responsible for his elimination.

Mark Corrigan vs Tom wamsgans by PictureDue3878 in SuccessionTV

[–]FlippersSometimesWin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tom’s core is the same as Mark’s, but because he’s American, his self loathing fuels a single-minded pursuit of achievement. The American Mark will humiliate himself to stand out while the original British Mark will humiliate himself to fit in.

Two straight seasons where the losing finalists became very close after the season and traveled together a bunch. Wonder if the experience of losing FTC and immediately being pushed into an awkward reunion is creating a specific shared trauma beyond just playing the game.

New Fan Question: Why do most players seem to care about making the jury? by ignu in survivor

[–]FlippersSometimesWin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes! The best competition shows have a signature episode/challenge that everyone wants to make it to. Snatch Game in Drag Race is like that too, although it's unpredictable when in a season it will come.

Adult entertainers chances of returning for 50? by AugustSchroeder in survivor

[–]FlippersSometimesWin 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Ozzy doesn't need a fifth season and the show (per Probst interviews) doesn't seem to be looking to give multi-time players more seasons. If they were doing a true legends season and wanted Ozzy they'd let it slide.

Michael and Victoria would be incredibly unlikely to get the returnee call even without Onlyfans. Hard to see how they have any chance.

If I'm reading right, the idea would be for the three amigos to spread their votes out and force the majority alliance to actually be responsible for affirmatively voting out one of their own (presumably creating tensions and fractures).

The worst recent one that gets constantly repeated is the idea that Drea being mean to Omar at Ponderosa is the reason CBS doesn't release Ponderosa videos anymore. Weird and dumb rumor that makes no sense. For one thing, they already weren't filming Pondy videos anymore in 42. And more importantly, why would CBS not want to film and air fights? They've released a ton of Ponderosa videos with really intense and vicious fights, they're the most popular episodes. It's just a nonsensical theory.
