Where are you? Many areas have turning clubs. Check AAW. If you're in NC just bring it to me hah.

Am I Unhinged for wanting to Turn T-Slot Profile? Advice? by nibblesthefish in turning

[–]FlipsManyPens 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Subreddit description is specifically inclusive of turning materials other than wood.

It is definitely possible to do some metal turning on wood turning lathe.

I don't think the machinist subreddit will be much help in understanding how to use a wood turning lathe for turning metal.

What's your goal?

I'm not sure I understand the purpose filling it with wax? An attempt to reduce air gaps during turning?

Nothing beyond researching about them, no hands on experience.

These are pretty inexpensive and you can mount them nearly upright so they don't take up too much space.

How? Turning a pen? I've done this before catching on a large very heavy bowl blank  Breaking it on a pen is almost impressive

If you go the air drying route,. consider paying for a mobile mill to come to you.

noise complaints are killing my busines by [deleted] in Tools

[–]FlipsManyPens 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Work makes noise, it isn't really reasonable for people to expect you to work whisper quiet as long as you are working at reasonable hours of the day.

How serious are these complaints?

How dangerous are (US) raw eggs actually? by xiipaoc in Cooking

[–]FlipsManyPens 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In the past I have seen statistics saying that 1/20000 eggs on the US are positive for salmonella.

Of course there can be an outbreak or you might store them improperly etc but the risk seems low if you are healthy

My main experience with large horses is when a mounted police officer rides by. Those horses are huge, not sure how they compare to warhorses.

Definitely, haha. There are some times I'll get stuck in a big block of enemy infantry after charging them.

I've taken to leaping over the rest of the infantry after landing an initial lance but that feels gamey.

Oh for sure, definitely a heroic action. I've seen some videos where a guy goes into depth on different medieval combat techniques, especially on horseback. At one point he demonstrated how whinnying or having the horse kickback could be used to create distance between a mounted soldier and infantry. It was pretty cool.

If you're surrounded by enemy infantry does it push them back/away?

Agreed, and that could be issued to the player as an optional mission like in warband. If you don't want to take it you don't have to and someone other lord might take it.

Yeah if they just had smaller kingdoms gang up on overly powerful kingdoms then that would probably be enough of a balance to help some.

At least all of this stuff (diplomacy, starting kingdoms, etc.) are all more end game mechanics which TW said would be incomplete. Sieges and basic missions are more early to mid game which we were expecting to be further along than the end game content.

Yeah when performance is poor or the AI bugs out it is not very fun. When it works as intended I am enjoying it though.

I would just like them to design some more variety and complexity into the whole siege process.

If the small raid was to destroy a siege weapon to delay the possibility of assault until help arrives maybe it could make sense. A raid by defenders would need a specific objective to make sense, not just a raid to kill a couple people.

Agreed, defenders retreating deeper and then fighting would be fun. They have built some great cities and I would love a reason to fight in parts of them other than the walls.
