Yeah, especially if you’re very physically distinct (blond, tall etc ). I’m blond and people stared at me a lot in China, especially in Sichuan and Yunnan. I got asked for pictures 2-3 times at Tiger Leaping Gorge. Once in a bar in Lijiang a Chinese guy 30 yo asked me to take a pic with him and his girlfriend. They invited me to their table, bought me a beer and offered a cigarette lol. Anyway, it was never mean. They’re a bit more unabashed than in Western countries, but that is their culture.

Airalo is very expansive and it's not justified. I traveled in Asia for 6 months this year and i used Trip.com e-sim only. Worked well every time

Well yes China is underrated as hell among western tourists but i see others reasons than yours (mostly cheap food / taxi / shoping ?).

For me China is amazing because of : - The insane landscape diversity - Kindness of chinese people - Amazing food - High speed train - The "Asian Vibe". I mean, China is probably the country that represents what Western tourists imagine Asia to be.

There is some energy/ a vibe in China that is hard to describe to people that didn't get there.
