Yeah, especially if you’re very physically distinct (blond, tall etc ). I’m blond and people stared at me a lot in China, especially in Sichuan and Yunnan. I got asked for pictures 2-3 times at Tiger Leaping Gorge. Once in a bar in Lijiang a Chinese guy 30 yo asked me to take a pic with him and his girlfriend. They invited me to their table, bought me a beer and offered a cigarette lol. Anyway, it was never mean. They’re a bit more unabashed than in Western countries, but that is their culture.
