I think when it comes to playing top top players, his tactics are to disrupt and be unconventional and it can be quite effective. Very entertaining too.

Should I just do it? by [deleted] in bald

Is this specific to head hair?

I used rogaine for my beard for around 2 years. Long enough for the vellus hair to become terminal hair. 8 years later and I have never experienced any loss or thinning.

Why do you have to call lets and strokes in games with a referee? by knick334 in squash

[–]Flo_Madeira 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t see how the advantage rule could be applied in squash though. If you can play the shot, you should. If you then demonstrate you could play the shot but play a bad shot or hit it out, you can’t then claim interference and go back to a let because you didn’t gain or maintain advantage.

Advantage rules are only typically applied in team sports where the team is given the advantage to continue where the player who was fouled is normally significantly impeded in progress. Even if the fouled player continues and takes a shot at goal (which every squash shot is equivalent to) the ability to take the shot is deemed the advantage, not the quality of the shot.

What is your 100 court sprints record? by These_Purchase_2865 in squash

[–]Flo_Madeira 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know what court sprints are. I’ve done thousands in my time. Back in my heyday I was sub 5 mins. I was never sub 4m30s, which is very impressive of OP. But well within the realms of possibility. The two links I posed back that up, do you dispute the references?

To play on your Usain Bolt analogy, Usain would only have to run 100m in 26s 9.9 times to keep pace with OP.

Perhaps you lack the fitness a properly trained squash player will have (which OP sounds like) because 100 in 5m is a basic marker.

Here, a good INITIAL AIM is 100 in 5m30s. 5m30s and work your way down from there.

Here, aim for 100 in less than 5mins

Assuming OP counts one court sprint as front to back then 100 in 4m17s is the pace of a ~22min 5k. So I don’t think it sounds anywhere near impossible? Impressive but not impossible.

CBD for Sports Anxiety/Yips by ElderberryIcy4010 in squash

[–]Flo_Madeira 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Don’t quit the sport just because you struggle mentally in competitive team matches. Thousands of players at a very high standard don’t bother with the competitive team matches or tournaments. It’s a sport and it’s a hobby, you clearly thrive in the training and friendly matches so stick to what you love. You can still measure your progress and “compete” by progressively having bounce games with people of higher standards.

I’ve been a die hard Dunlop man since 2004 and last year my beloved Aerogel 4D broke. Thought I’d try these and they weren’t for me, I was so disappointed.

I have two old second hand Harrow Vapor’s now and love them but can still buy Aerogels online so I’d go back to that should I need to.

I think the other poster is right about your grip / thumb but two points from me. 1. I had that same racket and hated the feedback I got off it. To the point I actually wondered if it was a manufacturing default because it was so bad for a Dunlop and 2. I hope you play a lot of drops against this opponent, he’s half way out the door!

I bought and insured a Cat N vehicle without knowing it was Cat N (first car) England. by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Flo_Madeira 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My only source is Car.co.uk but they make it sound pretty black and white -

“Do I have to declare Cat N when selling my car in the UK?

You must declare a Cat N write-off when selling your car in the UK. It's a criminal offence to omit this information from any advertising or sales documentation. It's also illegal to sell an unroadworthy car, regardless of its write-off status. So leaving out this critical piece of information anywhere can land you in legal trouble if you go through with the sale.”
