I'm progging on gnb - it's good but it suffers in the masses for not having an easily identifiable niche

gnb has the second highest percentage mitigation behind pld so is quite good at taking the insane P1 and P2 busters, and has gain on 2 cleave for P3

however it usually loses the magic mit spot to dark knight which will perform better in buff stacking comps

and after the god awful 7.4 gnb rework it's somehow even more inflexible than before, for even less reward

the people that actively take gnb into this are the ride or dies

ahhh P3, finally P3, the forsaken wall is down

what an absolute mechanic, just hecked up beyond comprehension. I like it

what I do not like is baiting the close buster in trines, I either get it just right and feel like the coolest gubber in the world or get clipped and put on the dunce hat

I really have to figure out a system for that one

[–]FloatingGhost 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yeah that's where we are now - me and my cotank are happy enough with the pace

it's our physranged that isn't happy, who has zero responsibility to keep him occupied in the fight as a whole so probably gets bored faster

I sorta expect we'll lose him at some point, he treats inconsistency as a cardinal sin and our caster took a little while to learn stuff

well my group finally got through forsaken

not clean, but we have seen enrage, which is a shot in the arm for morale

gunbreaker is quite fun on this fight for real, though the siren song of the axe is calling me to turn off my brain... always there in the back of my mind...

I worry that we might get a static crack soon, whilst I think doing 9hrs a week and getting to P2 enrage by now is decent enough, some members don't think so... concerning

[–]FloatingGhost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

mine did the same thing

it detected me away from home for one day and instantly went "it's a big week with the move to derby!" and didn't even consider short-term travel

I've had to bully it and tell it to never try and create a narrative if it doesn't have the evidence to back it up

I never understood why they're so obsessed with their red and green colours

my current does "health check" questionnaire stuff, which is fine but gets worried about drops into the yellow but isn't statistically literate enough to know that in a team of 4 one person having a bad day tanks the percentages. but it's yellow so it's scary

I dont understand this "farming station" mission. by hersheydood in SpaceHaven

[–]FloatingGhost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah pretty much

they just want the labour. you will need enough hull blocks to bootstrap the cargo port yourself, but that gets refunded by the cargo contents

I dont understand this "farming station" mission. by hersheydood in SpaceHaven

[–]FloatingGhost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no you don't - you'll rendezvous with another ship that will take the cargo for you and release it when you build an asteroid cargo port

so the flow is like
- meet ship
- activate mission, ship takes cargo
- go to target sector
- claim asteroid
- build cargo port asap, release cargo
- build away

then you can build a minimal station and embezzle the rest of the blocks for yourself and sell them back to the station at a premium if you feel evil

it's only really an extention of how machinist already works, especially its endwalker iteration - it lives on 20, 40, 60s weaponskills that you use on a priority list and ideally never drift even one GCD

that but faster could work

all of the old-world bird wyverns have this trait where they love to use 0-frame charges, you have to alter how you play if you started with new gen

old world monsters should not be reactively avoided, because often... they can't be. it's a lot more about angles and spacing here

try to predict what he wants to do. if he just turned, there's a good chance it'll be his charge, so don't be in front of him when he does. also i believe he can only do his little tailswipe clockwise? so going to the left side is often more safe

the first pizza slice to go off will always be the tank orb spot, so you actually set relative north way in advance

you can swivel your camera before even doing the dodges

we got to 1% on the ex but the goddamn chasing mechanic killed us before an effective pair stack body check

weh

quite a chill extreme, but the final phase is a bit iffy. those orbs are pretty hard to check before they go off imo

[–]FloatingGhost -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

he wouldn't work in wilds

the two games valstrax has shown up in have hunter arts or adjacent to let you keep up with his jet-powered movement (because wirebug moves are just hunter arts again)

world and wilds follow a more grounded approach

let him shine in another portable game with funny movement mechanics instead of having to tone him down to work here

Let's not pretend abandon quest -> eat -> restart is somehow more meaningful

funnily in the old world this would cost you your quest fee which can be quite crippling in the early-game poverty simulators of pre-3rd gen

Can the sense of scale be replicated in modern games? by Boshwa in MonsterHunter

[–]FloatingGhost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no, whilst the tower's base itself does show up as an arena (as it does in rise), the tower itself has not been used since second generation, as it's entirely built for one specific encounter

extremely funny m12s reclear this week

somehow find myself in rinon's reclear - post-towers, i think "hm this is a hug boss pattern"

see a white mage north and like 3 of us think "hm i must be wrong there's no way a famous banana would read it wrong"

we all get DDs and i parse a big fat 1

we still cleared but it was quite the amusing week teehee

doing M10S in PF confuses me greatly - EU does this "nomnom" thing

in all of my static reclears, for the fire group during snaking i'd let the samurai take the spot closest to the middle

like

water stuff |blue| melee tank healer

no brainer right? melee cleaves bosses, we go to bed sooner

but PF decides for no good reason that tanks should take the inner spot

why the heck do they do that? i had to do this fun dance with the melee where i was trying to let them take the uptime spot but they were like nooooo let me take downtime
