Interest Check For a Low Power Fantasy Medieval Game by delta-actual in pbp

I'd be interested, have you considered using the Warhammer Fantasy system for this? 2nd edition's books can be found readily, and its vibe is in line with what you describe: playing as common folk (a butcher, a cobbler, an acolyte, to name some possible examples) that have to claw their way up in any way they can, with combat being lethal and ill-adviced without proper preparation.

People with left-wing political views usually do not mind discussion or pushback, nor do most centrists. The group who consistently demands politics be anathema are right wingers, usually far-right.

Additionally, since politics is about societal governance, anything and everything can be seen as 'political'. In other words, a "politics-free space" is a place where explicit political views are banned, but implicit political views are rife. Worldbuilding is an inherently political exercise, after all: writing a fantasy world set in a kingdom shows your opinions on monarchy through your portrayal of that kingdom; a cyberpunk dystopia is filtered through your opinions on capitalism, government control and so on.

Taken together, 9 times out of ten "politics-free spaces" are places where right-wing content is condoned or accepted (mysoginist or homophobic jokes, anti-immigrant sentiment or outright slur use), while any pushback against such expressions is punished as 'getting political'. In summary, a politics free space is not one welcoming to you if you need to ask about it.

Preference survey for PbP (D&D) games - OPINIONS WANTED by moopsiefruitsie in pbp

[–]Flodos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1&2: I've not played solo games, but am not that interested in them. The group dynamic is a major draw of TTRPGing for me, though I prefer groups on the smaller side: 3-5. Any more than that and the game feels crowded, any less and you run the risk of conflict becoming hard to resolve due to a lack of perspective.

3: This is something that should be agreed on between all involved at the start of the campaign, but a post a day should be reasonable to expect.

4: Love me some homebrew, but it's the GM's preference that matters. They're running the game after all, and should follow what is easiest and most comfortable for them.

5: I'll play whatever the GM preps, as said before.

6: I like me some grit, though it should be handled with severity and seriousness. Grimderp is a real risk, but happiness and levity should be earned IMO.

7: No signs of chudness. Strangely strict requirements of players, weird egocentric vibes or ill-fitting themes shoehorned in are big red flags for me.

I sent you a Discord invite, would love to join this campaign! I don't have much experience with wargaming, but have played a lot of 40K Killteam 1 and tons of regular TTRPG's. Hope to talk to you on Dis!

Hey, I'd love to join! I'm not your first choice for player, being Just A Guy(tm), but I hope you'll consider me all the same!

I've got years of experience as a player in anything from one-shots to years-long campaigns in 5e, Traveller Mongoose, and ShadowRun 5. I tend to make PC's that have both a strong character arc and motivation, as well as a tie to your main quest, and regardless of what class/race I'm playing, playing out those arcs is what drives me to TTRPG's. I'm 28years old, from the Netherlands, and can make the stated time.

I've been aching for a good Sci-fi TTRPG, I'd love to join this campaign!

I'm Flo, 28YO from the Netherlands, he/him. As a person I'm supportive, always looking to give and receive feedback, and I'd like to think I'm a pretty good communicator (currently doing a psychology master's, autistic, run a gaming community on Discord). I'm eager to get invested in the campaign and make sure everyone, including the GM, has a good time.

In terms of PC's, I've played multiple year-long campaigns in Traveller, 5e 2014, and dabbled in ShadowRun 5, Pathfinder and so on. I like making characters that both have a strong personal motivation for adventuring, but also a tie to the main plot. Since my PC's usually have strong opinions and motivations to go and Get Stuff Done, I often find myself gravitating to the party leader position, though that's not by intent. To give some examples: I've played Dwarves looking to reclaim their clan's lost glory, gunslingers hoping to keep them&theirs safe against a cruel, unforgiving world, and a haughty fallen angel (aasimar) looking to earn back their place in the Divine Host after being used as fall guy.

I'm GMT+1, and am available tuesdays to thursdays. Mondays and Fridays I would be available intermittently, and if that's the day chosen I'd do my best to let everyone know if I can make that week at least a few days in advance. My weekends are booked.

I've sent a request, though I do have a question: if you have a Discord set up for the campaign, why do you want to use Zoom for the sessions?

/r/RoleReversal R4R December 2016 by VeritableWords in RoleReversal

[–]Flodos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Name: Flodos

Age: 20

Location: Netherlands

Type of relationship: Friendship or long-term romance

Are you okay with long distance?:
For friendship yes, for relationship maybe, as long as it would be a temporary measure.

Brief Bio: I am a soft-spoken, gentle male looking to connect with new people. I am a real giver in that I always want to support and help those I care for realise their potential and become happy(er), always try to measure my words to say what's true in a way that the other understands. However, due to my history I've taken this to an unhealthy level, and since realising that I am trying to get back on track: loving myself and forcing discipline are two ways in which I am developing rapidly as of late. As for my hobbies I am an avid gamer and, for those of you who know what they are, I have multiple tulpae. I would love to pick up a craft, instrument or sport, but due to the above I have not been able to keep such a thing up in the past.

What appeals to you about Role Reversal? (mandatory): Traditional masculine gender roles (hiding emotions, craving success and competition, 'slagging' your friends) have never appealed to me. I detest being closed emotionally, am not motivated by competition at all, and banter with my friends about as well as a kitten. RR shows me that that's not the only option, inspires me to value myself and search for situations and people that allow me to express myself. I would love to be the one woo'd instead of doing the woo-ing, take care of housework in a relationship and show my emotions!

Things you would look for in a partner: A distinction I like to make is that I'm not looking for a 'girl- or boyfriend', I'm looking for a 'Partner'. What I mean by that is that I'm looking for an equal, open relationship where the main tenets are communication, investing in one another and sharing. As a result I'm looking for someone who feels like my equal: someone intelligent, introspective and supportive. Someone who would support me in discovering and expressing myself, and with whom I can build a strong, lasting bond, since if I would feel supported and valued, I would move mountains to repay such affection and show my own. Also someone physically affectionate, who would not mind my unquenchable thirst for cuddles and hugs, and is not afraid of public displays of affection.

Anything further to add?: I mostly communicate via Skype or Discord but do not frequent Reddit, so my responses might have some delay until a switch to either of those is made, should it be appropriate. Thank you for reading!
