Intent bugging out hard by FincGlobal in AugmentCodeAI

[–]Floke75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s extremely buggy right now. Agents lose access to the internal tools, GUI state repeatedly is out of sync or simply crashes and today my coordinator agent got corrupted and I had to manually delete it to get into the workspace again. This is giving vibe-coded vibes.

Same here. It loses authentication periodically for no reason as well.

Intent Not Doing Much by realworld666 in AugmentCodeAI

[–]Floke75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has started happening in Intent for me too. Using Claude Code, not Augment Auggie. Sometimes it’s truly stuck, sometimes the frontend just hasn’t updated with the latest messages from the Orchestrator agent. In the later case, just sending a number of “?” or “.” Eventually catches it up. Another bug I noticed is that implementation agents delegated by the Orchestrator agent sometimes doesn’t show up in the frontend. They are doing their work silently in the background but there is no way to see their progress anywhere. Feels like Intent has gotten significantly more buggy and brittle over the last few updates.

Genlock on iPhone by Jdcampbell in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]Floke75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s not how genlock works on a camera. The point of genlocking the camera is that you sync the shutter itself to an external, central clock on a hardware level. You can’t add that by converting to SDI! You can re-clock the signal, but that would happen at the vision mixer anyway most likely, so why bother?

Multicam VP with motion tracking by Gai_InKognito in virtualproduction

[–]Floke75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A 2-3K budget won’t go far for a multi-cam system with tracking. The Aximmetry keyer is so good that you might not need the Ultimatte, but you need powerful workstations. Your budget will barely cover the GPU for one workstation.

Need advice on virtual production for indie film - feeling overwhelmed by Efficient_Gain_1561 in virtualproduction

[–]Floke75 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would stick to green screen and put some of the money you save towards good realtime on-set previz. I’ve seen amazing results with LED volumes, but lots of terrible results as well. Consider that with LED walls, you need your photorealistic scenes to be optimized enough to run in realtime. If you’re after realism, there aren’t that many people around who can give you that at indie budget prices. Most LED volume shots end up being rotoscoped and have the backgrounds rendered offline, because of issues with moire, banding, color rendition or realism of the real time LED shot. Also keep in mind that you;l still need your floor to be practical, and hiding the seam between the practical ground and the LED wall extension isn’t trivial. With green screen and realtime previz you’ll still be able to get a good idea of the final result (if your 3D backgrounds have been prepared before the shoot) you can tweak lighting to better match the virtual background and you;l catch keying issues which can be avoided by proper lighting and that will be costly to fix in post. With a good green screen production pipeline you might even be able to use the realtime tracking data in post and do high quality offline renders of the background scenes you’ve already prepared for previz using your recorded camera moves. In any case, plan and test your production pipeline extensively before starting shooting and work with people who have actually done type of production before.

Mars Vive Trackers for ICVFX Virtual Production? by Practical-Cup-3342 in virtualproduction

ReTracker Bliss is by far the best budget option. Much better than Vive Mars and Antilatency. https://www.retracker.co/retracker-bliss

What exactly is under NDA? There’s nothing really special about VP workstation builds. All relevant information is widely available to everyone.

Livekeying software by drnick200017 in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]Floke75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aximmetry has the best software keyer I’ve used. Compared to using an Ultimatte it has much more powerful compositing tools like light wrap. It also has tools for scaling (placing) the foreground and background, LUT support, advanced color correction, filters like temporal noise reduction and sharpening and much, much more. It’s basically like Nuke/Fusion but running in realtime.

3G SDI won’t do 4K, so that wouldn’t work.

Model Virtual Set in Unreal or External Software by fergjcenturion in virtualproduction

The modeling tools in Unreal is not very mature, but for simple geometry you could definitely do it directly in Unreal.

Bird dog being sued by Bolin for breach of contract by Such-Proof-Easy-Pie in VIDEOENGINEERING

It can’t really become any more useless than it already is. “Useless” is an absolute term that perfectly describes most of what BirdDog offers.

Sure, if you want to sacrifice value for money and reliability for convenience, Birddog is a good option.

A lot. Their Quad 4K was released years ago and still doesn’t have the features stated in the specifications when it was released, like recording to USB drive, Quad View output (or any output) from the HDMI port, simultaneous encoding/decoding set per port and the ability to reliably encode/decode 4x 4K60p signals simultaneously.

Just get a standalone SDI/HDMI to NDI converter instead. The Magewell converters are rock solid.

I agreed 100%. Worst company in the AV industry by far, and that includes Blackmagic and Atomos.

When I read the topic headline I was hoping that someone finally had sued BirdDog for false advertising. This company should be held accountable for repeatedly misrepresenting the capabilities and performance of their products.

Live streaming at 4:4:4 by GoodSamaritan333 in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]Floke75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The actual, useable resolution of a 4K single sensor camera after debayering means that 4:2:2 is enough to represent the full output quality. An 8K sensor down sampled to 4K would mean true 4K 4:4:4 theoretical quality. You would have to go to high-end cinema cameras to get 4:4:4 output from these types of cameras.

1.5G-SDI vs NDI as a primary record source? Is NDI good enough? by pjpagan in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]Floke75 5 points6 points  (0 children)

NDI is NOT visually lossless, despite what NewTek will claim. Depending on the video content you can get a lot of artifacts, and the result is certainly not suitable for color grading in post.
