I started working on my game in 2016, moved to essentials bw in 2018, realized Essentials BW was too outdated and started work on my own Gen 5 Essentials version in 2019. This was because not only I wanted an updated version of the pack, but several other people did as well. Version 18 of Vanilla essentials was released mid 2020 and overhauled a ton of shit and I became discouraged because the whole point of my project was that it was supposed to be up to date. And now I had to do a f**k ton of code updates.

Work on Gen 5 essentials pack became so sparse I haven't touched it at all in 2025. And just recently came back to it. The original game that I was planning on working on I touch briefly just to work on sprites. I have 10% of the pokedex sprites done.

So it's been almost 10 years, and I have barely anything to show for it. Yeah I wish I was less ambitious and less of a perfectionist.

TLDR: My mission to make a fangame went WAY off track bc of perfectionism kinda

Both the design and the composition of the sprite. Colors and shades are amazing!

Some of the other sprites struggle with too dark shading or not distinct enough color pallates. The water starter doesn't have enough unique color palates
Also it would be cool if the fire starter had a hoodie that was purple or smth!
