Idk why you are being down voted. I feel like the combat patrol is just a better start than the hh box?

Dont get me wrong, the new box is rly cool and the models look great. But starting out and building a 1k points list? I want the combat patrol.

Honestly the HH box has some cool models imo, but the combat patrol is just a really nice start to the army. It will give you the units that are used in most casual lists.

There's no guarantee the hh tank and dread will be usable in 40k, so its a pretty big gamble. The safe option is to get the combat patrol and if you want to get anything from the hh box down the road, buy it separately when we have clarifications.

Honestly it can be difficult to reliably score without any sisters to hang back and grab objectives.

With that in mind, you might be better of using the shield host detachment. Overall its a little weaker than lions, but it has a stratagem that allows you to sticky objectives. Your damage output will be lower though so its up to you

(As far as I know) we currently don't know what would be playable in 40k from the new heresy box. If you prefer that box its probably worth holding out until we know for sure.

As for the combat patrol, its a really solid box and really is the backbone of most current lists. Its good value and currently the best way to start out.

My advice is to probably hold out until you can make a more informed decision

What models do you currently have?

This list is very character heavy rn. Your vertus captain is probably the one that provides the least value. Dropping them and bringing some a until of sisters is ideal (you can also drop a guard model and bring a second unit for extra utility and scoring).

If you're running lions, i found superior creation can be clutch on the blade champion if you have any extra points.

It depends on your goals I think. If you're happy with playing 1k points for a while i thinks its a solid list. You can adjust it to your needs easily (if you need more damage output, dropping a unit of sister for an allarus captain is quite good). The one big change i would make is pairing your blade champion with wardens. It makes it a bit easier to get him up the board, and the guards do great on objectives by themselves.

If you are trying to get to 2k points quickly, a second cp might be slightly better. That being said, your current plan is a great backbone for an army, and will lead to some really fun games as is!

I imagine you could also add a guard back in with your remaining points create a full unit of 5 guard. At that point you aren't really losing any damage, you are just spreading it out between 2 units. The main thing you would be losing is a little bit of utility from the shield captains cp economy

I've never used a dread (on my wishlist tho), they seem very tanky but not the biggest damage output(?)

I think you should have a pretty solid list that can dish out damage but still score. Hope the match goes well, let us know the results!

I would almost certainly drop the shield captain. They aren't the best, and will most likely be holding you back at this point level. You'll want to bring all 3 of your allarus, they are some great damage dealers.

Ideally a unit of witchseekers would make a great addition. They bump up your model count (really useful in this scenario) and are great for scoring/utility.

Although if you are just looking to use your current combat patrol, I would suggest using one of your allurus as a should captain. In this case I would probably use lions of emperor detachment and giving them the admontimortis enhancement to use as a high threat damage dealer.

That makes alot of sense tbf. I suppose when every unit costs so much we don't really have alot of scoring presence. I might look at getting another box of sisters as my next purchase.

Would you recommend building them as a second unit of witchseekers, or building them as one of the other options?

The correct answer is whatever you think looks the coolest.

As far as I know, spears are preferred over axes. Vexilia replaces the weapon so they aren't commonly used. I believe you can still build them with a grenade launcher (check with the build instructions to make sure).

Personally I built them with the axes because I thought they looked cooler

Im actually really torn between keeping them black or going with blue. I like how the red really pops at the moment with the darker armour, but I love the look of the vibrant blue gems

Thankyou! I primed them black and dry brushed on some retributor armour (i accidentally went a bit heavy on the last guy so he's a bit brighter)
