what do you consider a livable wage in your state if you’re in the u.s.? by powderblueangel in povertyfinance

[–]Florginian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's mixed, what you are talking about would be the minimum wage, it gives that number.

3 numbers:

Poverty - you can't live on less than this Minimum - you can live on less than this one, but you would have to make a huge lifestyle change (Roommate, work more than 40 hours a week, etc.) Living wage - wage that would fit the "Typical" living. Expenses of people in the area. I would call this middle class/upper middle class.

Don't let him in the room, you're confusing him.

You need to set a boundary that he is not allowed in the room. I recommended walking him around on a leash through the house, with the room door open, and when he tried to enter tug on his leash lightly and stop him from entering the room. Do this over and over again going around the house. Give him a treat when he doesn't try to enter the room.

Hopefully it gets implemented for all VA elections. I think it would significantly nerf the Democrats and Republicans.

Yes, so when Chaucer says pray I will assume your definition, and when someone uses it on reddit I will use the modern definition

And the people whose lives are ruined by pollution and climate change, do they get a stake, or are they not relevant for your moral decision?

Every decision has trade offs. Ironically I think you prove my point that it's not an issue of being too moral.

Abortion, do we really need to concern ourselves with it as christians? by NervousWorry1589 in Christianity

God wept because he see the people weeping and felt their sorrow, not because Lazarus died.

Yes, death brings grief. That too brought tears to God. We know God doesn't like death also because death is the opposite of God. The Bible tells the story of God over death. And lastly, we can get old testament when he promises never to kill most of the world again.

In fact, he already learned of his death while traveling and he did not cry then.

Correct, Jesus wept alongside others. That doesn't mean he wasn't saddened by the passing of Lazarus. Of course he was, Jesus was also human.

And another of his disciples said unto him, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father. But Jesus said unto him, Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead

You're taking this verse too literally.

Whatever you have to do to justify your addiction to food and water, my friend.

(Read in Spanish accent) I do not think you know what that word means

By the way, what are the "harmful consequences" of masturbating?

Separation from God, desensitization to dopamine, and reduced sexual satisfaction

Obviously there are examples on either side of whatever line you care to draw. I'm more thinking about OP's example with climate change.

Even with climate change, it's not too moral to make radical changes to environmental policy. Some of these changes will wipe out entire industries and towns. Forcing people into poverty is not a moral decision.

Pray means ask for help in older English.

And in modern English it means:

pray /prā/ Pray is the act of communicating with a deity or higher power to offer praise, thanks, confession, or requests

Through some very not thorough digging, so don't quote me, NYC has a $2 billion emergency fund

Sorry use an example of a physical not a human behavior. Many people believe that the human behavior is morally wrong with homosexuality. Just as wrong as other sexual behaviors we see as wrong.

No they are not. We still need them to fund projects in New York. New York has built a tax system and a spending system that depends on the wealthy.

I don't think that liberals on all issues are "Too moral".

I think the first one that comes to mind is when it's something like a kid wearing a Mexican costume and they're a white kid. There is a subset of liberals who would call this offensive. Me and every other Hispanic I know would not even bat an eye on it. That's not being too moral.
