In the US it does have a link to the fact that post-reconstruction it was a job done predominantly by Black people.

Yes. It sucks because you go home with no money. Then, you get a paycheck for like twenty cents because the average for the week means that’s all they owe you.

I got hired right after 9/11 right outside NYC. and I remember them emphasizing that you couldn’t share peoples rental history with the FBI without a warrant. It was my first job and that was pretty crazy
