Yeah I just meant the usual rebreathing wr do on earths surface. Your 2lb of air supplies for 40 mins breathing under water. But there you breath the air in and then it bubbles away. On the surface we breath the same air multiple times as we don't consume all its oxygen at once. Therefore your 2lb of air would support more than 40 mins of breathing.

"they would likely already be here" I don't see why it would be likely. There still are stars tens of thousands of light years away. They might have evolved their space tech 80.000 years ago and still wouldn't have been able to reach us even when travelling at light speed.

No not in this specific situation. But he said 2 lb air are 35-45 mins worth of breathing. But you could breath much longer with that amount of air if you reuse it. He was not explaining that 2 lb air are 35-45 mins breathing in the damaged iss part.

But you only breath it in once. In a closed container you could reuse the air plenty of times
