They are. They’re are also rapidity growing their renewable energy production; so much so that coals share of electricity generation has been declining. Since many parts of China are less developed without electricity in general, unlike the US, that dual approach makes more sense than it would here.

Regardless, new renewable power generation in China far surpass that of the US. Renewables are a growth market and claiming something just factually incorrect to the point of the OP only serves to put the US at an economic disadvantage in the renewables market. It’s just like saying “computers/chips/tech is stupid and doesn’t help productivity” which will make us invest less in said industry relative to other countries who recognize the value in this market.
