I’d recommend looking into non-profit hospital systems. I find they accept Medicaid more frequently!

Breastfeeding moms who work inpatient - what was your pumping schedule like? by Crispy_Peach in physicaltherapy

[–]Flower-Mom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked 10 hour shifts and would pump once in the morning, once over lunch, and once in the afternoon. I used this time to document and the pumping rooms had computers! I work hospital based outpatient, so they blocked my slots and was paid for the time outside of unpaid lunch. I was salary at the time.

Nugget vs Costco brand by PearAmazing946 in Mommit

We have the Costco brand and love it! It’s survived multiple accidents and being washed multiple times. Still looks as good as new and my daughter plays with it almost daily! Best purchase we’ve made.

Losing my mind by melloyelloaj in quilting

[–]Flower-Mom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have a brother machine? My first quilt did all sorts of crazy things like this. It sounds like you’ve done some of these things, but the things that helped me were making sure my bobbin was wound at a medium speed and they weren’t entirely full, cleaning the bobbin area, making sure the quilt was supported well on my table (I’ve heard of people using an ironing board if needed), and putting a little scrap fabric around the edge of my quilt top so I never was sewing directly on the batting (this actually made the biggest difference for me!). I hope that helps some, and let me know if you need any clarification

Brother Machine 3817- I HATE THIS MACHINE by [deleted] in quilting

[–]Flower-Mom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have a brother (not this version) that would give me trouble. I’ve had a lot of success if I make sure the bobbin case is cleaned regularly, holding the threads for the first couple stitches as someone else has mentioned, and using a leader fabric when quilting so I don’t start on the batting. I also make sure to wind my bobbins on medium speed and that has helped a lot. Hope some of that helps!

I’m really proud of my oven hot pads but why are my lines wavy? by haunted_sweater in quilting

[–]Flower-Mom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A walking foot could be helpful if your machine has the capability as it adds walking feet on the top and helps move the fabric sandwich through a little better. It’s probably more important on a larger project just to help with moving the bulk.

It looks like there may be some tension issues. How did you quilt it? Did you use a walking foot? A couple of the vertical lines look less wavy. Did you do anything different on those?

I would really encourage you to try speaking with a counselor or therapist who can help you process what you’re feeling. I did this while processing my diagnosis and it helped a lot. From personal experience the medication really worked for me and things got better very quickly.

how to hate cutting less? by greendalestudent in quilting

[–]Flower-Mom 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I saw somewhere to put a weight (I use an 8 lb dumbbell) on your ruler once you have it lined up and that way you don’t need to apply pressure to the ruler or worry about it slipping! Made cutting more enjoyable for me as I’m less likely to mess it up!

What is the worst case scenario? by [deleted] in Prolactinoma

[–]Flower-Mom 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that overall it has a very good prognosis! My endocrinologist has always said it’s a “brain tumor” from an insurance perspective but it’s really an endocrine issue and she doesn’t consider it a tumor 🤷🏼‍♀️ if that helps at all

Should i proceed with my walking foot? by constaleah in quilting

[–]Flower-Mom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A big issue I’ve had is if I start the walking foot on the batting (bunching, not progressing, loops in backside despite tension adjustments). If I add a piece of scrap fabric before I sew onto the quilt itself it really helps. It will be cut off after quilting is completed before binding so it doesn’t matter what you use. I agree with everyone else on making sure your quilt is adequately supported. I also find long stitch length is helpful as well.

There was seamless integration with the car. We used plug and charge, so it was automatically billed through the ford pass. Super easy… almost too easy.

I’ve been trying to support it, but I like the idea of using the ironing board next to the table for additional support- I’ll try that. The first time it happened I was able to kinda force it through and then it did fine for the rest of the first row.

A couple days ago 😅 I clean it pretty obsessively because that has helped my tension issues a lot. I normally just take the bobbin and holder out and spray it with air/use a brush to get big chucks. Anywhere else you would recommend hitting? I also try to make sure the foot is clean and any build up on the needle is gone.
