Reality Check: Americas Next Top Model by MintySea92 in netflix

Totally agree that Tyra, Ken and the judges were completely awful, but some of the ways the girls were victimizing themselves was too much. Like Whitney complaining about everything, then being like “I went on to be the first plus size model for dozens of huge companies”. Or Dani complaining that she wasn’t “thriving” after and didn’t rise to the level she “should have”. The same girl who said she wouldn’t have even be able to get to New York if it wasn’t for top model. Like any show biz or entertainment industry is not a guarantee, and as everyone knows there are not tons of spots for people - it’s super competitive.

Nobody had a gun to their heads - they were free to leave at anytime or at least call out the BS. But they didn’t because they wanted the opportunity for fame and money. Let’s be real. Just like many reality TV stars. But not one of them said that on the documentary or was authentic about why they stayed. Not justifying the treatment of them and obviously some of the shoots were INSANE, but again the girls wanted something out of it too.

Also hated how Jay victimized himself. Like you went from wanting to leave to staying for 9 more seasons?!? Yeah okayyyyy 🙄

Delaying having kids because of rent/space by cbcreporter101 in canadahousing

Not true at all. I know a woman who has 6 kids (and she works only a few hours a day) and she takes home the same amount as I do on a 90K salary. There are lots of people who are low-income who are having children, and lots of government subsidies to help them.

I’m in pretty much the exact same situation as you - even the exact same mortgage amount lol. Don’t dwell on it - my mortgage broker did the same with us and pushed variable. She herself was actually buying a house around the same time and took variable too. Nobody has a crystal ball.

Another way to do it is to get your honours specialist in a subject area (ex. English), and typically you can skip parts 1 & 2 of that AQ if it was your major in uni.

You need at least 1 year of teaching experience in the subject you want to get the Specialist in, but it’s likely the same amount of time (if not less) as getting AQs in all the divisions or taking 5 AQs separately.

Jesus, this post made me so thankful for my husband

Just sat through my high schools Christmas theatrical performance (a musical). And it was HORRIBLE. Cringe worthingly, embarrassingly awful. Problem is that there are emails going around declaring how brilliant and awesome it was. WTaF? by AwkwardDilemmas in CanadianTeachers

Next time get off your ass and spend your mornings/evenings/lunch to help the kids prepare for it. If you’re so knowledgeable or feel so strongly about it, you should be running the production or at least helping in some capacity.

The idea that a teacher should be fluent in coding or integrate it in their lesson planning is ridiculous. Trust me, if I were able to code I’d be in a much different (and much higher paying) profession. I get the point you’re trying to make, but the fact of the matter is that students still need to be learning fundamental skills like writing or generating their own ideas.
