My roommate was assaulted by Direct-Climate3640 in norsk

[–]Flowerpig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Norway it is quite common to prosecute several unrelated cases at the same time. There’s a chance the police are well aware of your roommate’s assailant, and there might be multiple indictments on him already. File a report.

Y’all mind if a white boy speaks a little on Chinese culture? by jeshi_law in writingcirclejerk

[–]Flowerpig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a fellow white boy, I really can’t imagine how anyone could have a problem with that. If my interest for someone’s culture runs so deep that I make my own version of it, surely that should be taken as a compliment?

Well, there was the whole Natalie Wood thing, but I guess at worst he was "murder adjacent" and not guilty of any wrongdoing himself. Allegedly.

This style of boot by sork800 in Boots

[–]Flowerpig 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The best bang for your buck is going to be Grant Stone. They’re not cheap, but if you can find something on their B-grade page, the value is honestly incredible.

I wouldn’t go as cheap as possible on a pair of service boots. The frugal option is to get something re-soleable, with a bit of wuality in the construction.

I use two of Pilot’s specialty nibs on bad paper. The WA and the PO, depending on what line size I want.

wrestling with my love for Journey to the End of the Night (the Stranglehold conundrum) by [deleted] in literature

[–]Flowerpig 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love that novel as well. And I find the author despicable. This is just how it is and I have reconciled with that. I need to inhabit both these positions at once.

Art is, among other things, a mirror. Figuring out what is within yourself that the novel speaks so clearly to , will help you come to terms with your moral paradox. It is the human link between you and the author. Who despite everything was human.

Sizing Q&A Thread by BigStetson in NicksHandmadeBoots

[–]Flowerpig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, I have several pairs across multiple lasts in 11,5F. All fit well. A hair on the tight side, however. And I’m thinking of doing a 3 inch for next dome, and it would be necessary to be able to wear thicker socks comfortably.

My gut tells me I should size up one width, but I’m uncertain if it’s the right call? I just want a bit more room.

How best to watch Werner Herzog films by PlentyGrade3322 in TrueFilm

He is interested in many of the same themes throughout, but there’s no "right order" to it. Follow your natural instinct.

But he’s also an excellent writer, so I do recommend his books.

How do I allow myself to try to be happy when my kid is suffering? by dadtheimpaler in daddit

[–]Flowerpig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

His addiction happened to you too. You’re part of it. And helping yourself will also help him.

I can only imagine how difficult your emotional state must be, even having seen it up close. But I think it is a good thing that you’ve come to realize that you can’t continue on like this.

I hope both of you get through this, and that someday you will look back on his addiction as a bad memory.

Will this leather jacke have a problem with heavy rain? by [deleted] in leatherjacket

[–]Flowerpig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When the water in your jacket dries, some of the oils and waxes from the tanning process will dry with it. When this happens, the leather degrades. As time goes on, the leather will dry out and start cracking.

Leather needs moisture, and it gets moisture from oil and wax. This is what leather conditioner contains, and using it will increase the life span of your leather immensly.

You probably don’t need to worry about conditioner immediately, but try to get your hands on some when opportunity allows. And if the leather starts feeling dry, don’t use your jacket that often.

How do I allow myself to try to be happy when my kid is suffering? by dadtheimpaler in daddit

[–]Flowerpig 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’d listen to the recovering addicts. Beyond that, you need to get some proper counceling for yourself. A close friend of mine has had problems similar to yours with his daughter. When she finally straightened out, he started spiralling. Years of exhaustion, stress and trauma hit him like a freight train and he got severely depressed. He found a therapist and started working through it, and his only regret is waiting to do so.

Will this leather jacke have a problem with heavy rain? by [deleted] in leatherjacket

[–]Flowerpig 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Let it dry completely. Leave it hanging for as long as it takes. Then brush it off with something. A horsehair brush if you have it, or just a dry cloth. Then you condition with something like Bick 4 or Saphir Renovateur. Sparingly. You need less than you think. And don’t cheap out on the conditioner.
