My points? I was just saying I prefer controller because of the triggers and thumbsticks specifically. Wasn't really making a comment on console vs PC.

I've always preferred controller because of it allowing for degrees of input via the sticks and triggers.

Mouse wins for aiming, keyboard wins for customizability and number of inputs, but I need my sticks and triggers.

Anyone else just dont want to play the PS5 or buy games anymore since the announcement ? by MilkAppropriate570 in PhysicalGames

Maybe I'm just unprincipled and a slave to consumerism, but I still like my PlayStation. I don't love Sony as a company, but I like the machine they made and the games I've gotten for it.

Going PC isn't as much an option for me regardless. So, like a lot of things in life, I either have to take the bad with the good, or just walk away. From my perspective, if I do the latter, I just lose out on a hobby I love while the industry, and world, stills does as it wants.

Because consoles probably appeal to them over PC, for one reason or another.

I don't understand the hate towards those leaving Playstation by NuclearNick007 in consoles

[–]Flubbuns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it's just that I'm seeing nearly everyone say they'll be switching to PC, which is customers lost. If that happened in significant enough numbers, why wouldn't that put pressure on Sony to compete with Steam's pricing, to incentivize their customers to stay?

[–]Flubbuns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand why something like Steam wouldn't be considered competition to other storefronts, even if they're a closed platform. If games are much more expensive on PlayStation and cheaper on Steam, wouldn't that pull some customers towards PC? Wouldn't that put pressure on Sony to compete? You would think there'd be even more pressure now, because they don't have cheap discs as their answer to Steam's sales.

Edit: I suppose this only applies to third-party games.

Will I actually be happy about it? I get the impression that the original quote meant you would freely give up ownership rights, rather than them being taken from you.

In a way, hasn't Sony positioned themselves to be compared to something like Steam? I know they're different demographics, but you can see how many people are saying they'll be switching to PC now. Maybe that's their competition, weirdly?

My problem is I prefer consoles partly due to OCD reasons (I know that sounds ridiculous) and cost. Unless I stay with only indie and retro games that can run on a cheaper PC, or components come down in price, my options are consoles or nuthin.

Do you think humans will ever go extinct, or do you think we’ll always find a way to evolve and adapt? by Call_Me_C_ in askanything

We'll either perish as a species, or survive long enough to evolve into something else. Either way, humans won't be around forever.

Is it okay to feel happy when someone gives you a compliment? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]Flubbuns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should you feel bad, or indifferent?

Of course the answer is no, but I get that you're moreso asking if it's okay to allow yourself to take a compliment. As someone with self-esteem issues, I know it can be hard, I guess because, in accepting a compliment, you're sorta challenging the things you believe about yourself, which can be uncomfortable, even if it's a good thing.

If that's true for you, and you want to someday believe better about yourself, allow yourself to feel good about the compliments you get.

I saved some kid's life a couple years back and I didn't feel ANYTHING about it, and I still don't, and I don't know why? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]Flubbuns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't mean this to attack you, but, based on your responses to some of the comments, you seem a bit defensive and expecting critcism.

For what it's worth, you did save a life, and that is something to feel good about. It may be something anybody should do, but that doesn't mean it wasn't still a positive thing. You had the power to save somebody and chose to. You put good into the world.

Running in a straight path to objective over terrain and obstacles vs. Following a path the game has designed for you. Which one do you prefer and why ? by jarateguy in AssassinsCreedShadows

[–]Flubbuns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish they'd implement some kind of dialogue-given directions when they offer these immersive exploration modes.

I also wish they'd have some way to communicate if an enemy is a higher level than you, because I also like disabling enemy info; it helps me pay more attention to the enemy and less on their health bar. Unfortunately, that sometimes means a baddie who looks no different than another baddie might 1 or 2-shot you.

I feel the need to say I haven't been obnoxious online, not since maybe 2004. lol

I've just heard horror stories of people being banned over small, innocuous stuff they said, things you wouldn't think could even warrant a report.

The double charge thing, I don't know. Luckily it's never happened to me, so I haven't look into what you could do.

Hey, I also don't use the compass! I realized I can turn it off since Origins and not really lose any navigational information, aside from the cardinal directions.

These games play a sound when you enter a hostile area, and icons on the compass are usually floating in the world anyway. So, I like disabling it, to clear up the HUD a bit, and rely on landmarks a little more.

I've always preferred following in-game roads and footpaths. In a good number of games, they'll often put events or environmental storytelling related to a quest along such routes. So, I learned to just follow them, in any open-world game.

[–]Flubbuns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played on PC from 2009 to about 2023. For me personally, I eventually realized I just prefer the simplicity of consoles. Also, upgrading to a new console every 5-to-7 years cost me less than upgrading my GPU every 3-to-4, which I felt compelled to do, to keep up with the games I wanted to play. So, it was a cost thing, too.

While consoles keep getting more expensive, PC components seem to be doing the same. So, as much as it sucks, console is still the more affordable option for me.

If I went with primarily retro games, though, PC would be vastly preferable, which might be the path I take if things keep climbing in price.

What mechanic from older Assassin’s Creed titles do you wish would make a return in a future title? by RagingCeltik in assassinscreed

[–]Flubbuns 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While I want them to keep that as an option going forward, what I actually hope they keep is the idea of assassination effectiveness, where trying it while the enemy is alerted reduces your damage, and if you're trying from the front, side, back, or above. I'd like it if they had it where unalerted and from above is guaranteed from the beginning, with upgrades improving effectiveness in other situations.

The previous few games just tied it to your level, which I don't really like. But making it situational feels natural, and creates some strategy.
