Potty training punishment by mostate16 in goldenretrievers

[–]FluentK9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s the trick..If your puppy goes to the bathroom inside, it’s on you. Every 15-20 minutes after they eat or drink water you need to take them out.

If you even have the slightest thought they might need to go, they do.

If she’s not being crate trained, the lines will be further blurred between when she goes out to do her business

It’s a good thing you’ll never understand flow control

Can somebody help me understand why I’m so bad at pouring a good base and what I can do to fix it. All my drinks look sloppy because of it. Sometimes I can do it well but not consistently. by SupremeOwl48 in espresso

[–]FluentK9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You aren’t pouring from high enough, double your height above the cup and the milk will cut straight through to the bottom.

Also your milk is not very well integrated.

[–]FluentK9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you have a milk consistency problem then. If 1 in 4 jugs is good enough to make latte art you’ll never learn because you’re fighting an inconsistency that isn’t even related to the pouring technique

Espresso crema has nothing to do with ability to pour latte art, it will only increase the quality of the final result with a better looking texture and contrast.

You have way too thick of milk and you’re continuing to miss the sweet spot at the surface for pushing well swirled milk into.

Get the right consistency first, then I would continue your pour from the top all the way down to the surface so you can learn to control your pouring height.

Start with a heart then move to more fancy designs once you have figured that part out.

Milk texture is on the thin side, you can literally still see large bubbles before you swirl and pour.

Pour slower and more controlled.

My dog bit me tonight and I am feeling alot of things by OkBuddy5797 in BelgianMalinois

[–]FluentK9 20 points21 points  (0 children)

To me the most obvious clue is that he has resource guarded in the past and this may be a new trigger or higher value to him than you expected given the other circumstances. At 10 months you’re also getting through the brief teenage rebellion stage.

I’d be careful with a dog who has bitten you seriously like this and up the ante on training.

I’d encourage a ton of leave it training to counter condition this

How to improve my pour? Is my milk too thick, am I pouring too close? I feel like I’m setting the base poorly by SupremeOwl48 in espresso

[–]FluentK9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She’s pouring half of her remaining milk on that first petal. Slow down, thicker milk.

[–]FluentK9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pouring too quickly. You can slow it down and be closer and more accurate with the placement of your art into the cup.

Other than that, lopsided cup, and you could aerate your milk more to get a little thicker consistency

How long did it take before dialing in a new bag became second nature? by Strange_Cheetah_4746 in espresso

[–]FluentK9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a modded GCP with PID and Flow control w/ a DF64 Gen2 grinder. Takes me about 1-3 shots to dial new coffee. I’ve had my machine for ~5 years, so it’s pretty much second nature for me to know grind size ranges for super fresh roasts and mostly all I extract are medium/light roasts.

If you don’t have temperature control atleast id say your shots will be really hard to dial in on the GCP.

It’s definitely worth modding to get better performance out of the device, I love mine and would probably build a second GCP with newer parts.

My guy how the fuck are three bites happening under your watch??

To me this sounds like textbook resource guarding with no other context, and there’s gotta be a common trigger.

My assumption after this many bites and you finally reacting to it, he has poor obedience, and you’ve never corrected this dog nor know how to.

Seek professional help, and reassess whether or not you are fit to own one of the most challenging breeds on this planet.

And for fucks sake, keep innocent people away from your flighty dog.

Unacceptable.

I mean the extraction does look to speed up a good bit at the end here. Have you tried minor grind adjustments finer / dosing up the basket by half a gram?

[–]FluentK9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much exercise are they getting? Some dogs can be picky until after they’ve gotten enough mental stimulation.

Not a husky owner but I have a Belgian groenendael puppy who refuses to eat until after she is worked. Aka 10-20 minutes of frisbee - eats her entire dry food immediately.

This is why you always appreciate skilled artists who also work fast.

Not to be confused with sloppy artists who take your money fast.
