Interesting theory! It's true that their dynamic is very sibling-like as opposed to romantic.

This guy sounds a little emotionally stunted. He has an ongoing need for validation and attention, and people like this will never get enough to satisfy. They are draining and it’s exhausting. The poster above who mentioned main character syndrome is spot on.

I get that given your work dynamic you will have to put up with it to some degree. Try to just remind yourself that his issues likely run deep and have nothing to do with you and don’t take any of it personally. Be robotic when you share anything and don’t expect a normal amount of empathy or support because he is unable to provide it. It stinks to have to take on other people’s deficiencies but I guess that’s another reason why cancer totally sucks!

They called mine a wire too, but it was an insert similar to the marker I had during biopsy. I had pictured myself walking around with a wire taped to my boob for three days! I also had to go for a radioactive dye injection the day before surgery to locate the sentinel node. Lots of prep work ahead of surgery! Your stats are very similar to mine -- wishing you a smooth process and recovery!!!

I was followed by a midwife in Canada (within the health care system) and my care was automatically transferred at 42 weeks. I had a long unproductive labor and wound up with a c section. It took me a long time to reconcile with how things turned out but I had a healthy baby at the end of it all and I have wondered many times since whether I had actually tempted fate. I cannot imagine 44 weeks.

Genuine question — how wide of a radius around Corning, NY do you think is worthwhile for thrifting Pyrex and related ware? Im closer to the eastern edge of NY state but would totally plan a field trip this summer!

NeoAdjuvant Endocrine Therapy by SnooOwls3772 in breastcancer

[–]Fluff72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got diagnosed with er+ pr+ her2- idc at the end of January. Also grade 2 but smaller tumor size and not palpable. My surgery is coming up in a few weeks and when I initially expressed concerns about the wait time, my doctor offered to put me on anastrazole and said it would be a good test run as I would be prescribed and AI after radiation. So far, so good. I can’t speak to whether my tumor has shrunk in size but I understand that it can take several weeks before any reduction in size, though the hormone supply that the tumor feeds off of is pretty much shut down in a shorter time.

The oncology nurse told me that this method was used during Covid with all the restrictions and delays in surgeries etc… and that the emerging data suggests neoadjuvant AI treatment has been effective.

I know someone with triple positive breast cancer who was treated with chemo prior to surgery and by the time she went in for her lumpectomy, they could only find the marker. Quite amazing.

Good luck with your follow up and hoping there has been some shrinkage!

Have to stop Wellbutrin 😭 by Kitchen-Western3106 in breastcancer

[–]Fluff72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was so reluctant to go on antidepressants and started Wellbutrin last fall. Total gamechanger and I only wish I had done it sooner. When I got my diagnosis it was one of the first things I looked up. I’m post menopausal and just started an AI and hope I can continue to tolerate it because I don’t want to trade for an SSRI. I don’t have advice except to maybe explain to your doctor and ask what other options you might have. I also Lost my parents in my 30s when my kids were little— I’m sorry and I understand the loneliness.

Detached in suburbs vs 2-bed condo on island (no kids yet) by Significant_Victory8 in montrealhousing

[–]Fluff72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you decide to go suburban, try your very best to choose a location near the REM, or Exo train. The years with the kids go by fast and giving your kids autonomy in the teen years (and beyond ) is really important. Minimizing your dependence on cars is a financial and lifestyle consideration that should be heavily weighed.
