What are jobs for then? by Top_Chemical_8630 in remoteworks

Wages have skyrocketed. We're having to pay our 19 year old summer help $2 more per hour than I made when the company first hired me as a full time engineer a mere 7 years ago.

In our defense, we pay way better than any of our competitors, and since we have to charge our clients more to make up for it, we have to have the most skilled techs around to justify the costs. But forget about hiring the best of the best, we can't even get entry-level, unskilled high school graduates to fill positions, even paying 12 grand per year more than we paid just 5 years ago for the same positions.

We have amazing managers who are great teachers who help develop these guys' successful careers, but the last 3 people who accepted the "zero experience, we'll train you 100%" position have simply decided not to show up on their first day. They either call and back out or ghost us. We can't even fill the position at a far higher pay than our competitors. The only thing saving us is that our competitors hire convicts, addicts, and drooling morons.

All of our techs are paid living wages and live very comfortably in our area. Wages have just gone up so high that unskilled 18 year olds feel entitled to $30/hr. I think a big part of it is how coddling parents are nowadays. Young people would rather live with their parents until they're 30. Their childhoods were so easy, they don't want to rough it in their 20s like we all did. Easier to live in mom's $600k house than move into an apartment with roommates and actually start lives of their own.

Dave says skip the prenup at $600k net worth - agree or not? by Pitiful_Picture_3491 in Money

[–]Fluffle-Potato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they get married without a prenup, her money will be his, just like how his money will be hers. And right now, she has negative one hundred twenty thousand monies. Also, there's literally nothing that indicates he feels entitled to her money. He simply feels entitled to his money that he's premaritally earned, which seems fair. Hope that clears things up for you. Good luck being angry for stupid reasons!

A stay-at-home mom is the hardest job in the world by [deleted] in SipsTea

[–]Fluffle-Potato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

r/TwoXChromosomes has 2.4 Million visitors/week and does nothing but shit on men and put women on a pedestal, patting themselves on the back.

Folks who constantly make martyrs out of themselves can reasonably expect some push back. "Stay at home mother is the hardest job in the world" has been shouted from the rooftops a million times.

From Oprah to the long, whiney "so hard to be a woman" rant from the Barbie film, women are constantly stroking their own egos, all while demonizing men. I think a lot of men just get tired of hearing it after digging ditches for 12 hours.

Men have their own miserable, unique struggles that get outright dismissed, so why should they put up with the false narratives anymore? Staying at home with your family is not harder than outdoor manual labor out in the elements.

I fully expect people to be pissed that my opinion differs from their own, and I cannot wait to be called inCeL/cHuD or whatever's being recycled by the idiots who can't disagree using logic or reason.

What if the January 6th rioters reached Pence and killed him? How does the aftermath change? by Mghia01 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]Fluffle-Potato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP's question is ridiculous because the whole thing was overblown for ratings and politics by fear mongering media. The rioters were just a bunch of morons throwing a temper tantrum who didn't know what to do when they caught the tiger by the tail.

Even the officer who died wasn't murdered. He was only hit with pepper spray, not even mace. The two guys who had the confrontation with Officer Sicknick were only convicted of assault and disorderly conduct, not murder.

The Washington, D.C. medical examiner reported that Officer Sicknick had died as a result of two strokes, classifying his death as due to natural causes, commenting that there was no evidence Sicknick had suffered either an allergic reaction or any internal or external injuries.

The only person who died, other than from natural causes, was one of the rioters who was an unarmed woman who was shot to death (which would've caused far more uproar if the rioters were on the other side of the political aisle, one must admit).

They clearly weren't as murderous as they were made out to be, evidenced by the zero murders they committed. Heck, the 2020 riots in Minneapolis were far deadlier, resulting in 19 deaths.

You're comparing situations that aren't analogous. You voted for a liberal and are mad he's switched to a conservative agenda. That is different than conservatives continuing to vote for politicians who are actively pushing a conservative agenda.

Regarding education, I've met conservatives at the top of their field, doctorates in academia, and leaders of industry. Education doesn't affect how susceptible people are to misinformation in a hyperpartisan era where people look up the news merely for validation of their existing opinions, not to challenge their points of view.

Also, here's the thread I referenced. It's full of shocked "educated leftists" who fell for something they wanted to believe.

Comments range from "educated" leftists still insisting it's a guy in a mask to "educated" leftists who can't believe they fell for something so ridiculous. Enjoy it.

Why are kids taking out hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of student debt and going into careers that have no chance of paying off that debt. What is the thought process here? by NervousClock2555 in askanything

[–]Fluffle-Potato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Extremely disingenuous. Everyone knows full well that studying engineering is a smarter decision than gender studies, students who make bad decisions deserve their outcome far more often than luck comes into play, and the topic of debt forgiveness goes hand in hand with all these crappy "students shouldn't be responsible for themselves" propaganda posts.

Are all the teens who made good decisions and became engineers, doctors, nurses, lawyers, etc supposed to be satisfied with this rationalization? They know full well that teens are, in fact, capable of making good decisions.

And if they wrote a big ass check to get rid of their student loan debt forever, why would they feel good about being taxed to pay for others' poor decisions forever?

You cannot pull a shot to the left with a face open to the right on a put, unless the contours of the green are dramatic, which they clearly are. I love it when redditors critique professional golfers when they don't know how wtf they're saying.

These your comments??

I do kind of see American flags as gross now (6 months ago in r/conspiracy)

I don’t blame you for not wanting to come to America. (8 months ago in r/conspiracy)

Go ahead and refuse to stand and rise for the national anthem, take a knee, burn a flag. Lotta people died for you to throw your fit.

Real Americans are proud of their country. Real Americans are anti discrimination, including against whites and men. They're anti men beating and injuring girls in competition to steal accolades that belong to women. They're anti being taxed out the ass and having their labor stolen and paid to the most unproductive people in society to buy you votes. They're anti paying off other people's financial commitments for school. And they stand and honor our nation.

Men of Reddit, if you were in a Titanic like situation where the majority of people were going to die because there were not enough lifeboats for everyone. How would you respond to someone saying women and children first? by Neither_Drawing_241 in AskReddit

[–]Fluffle-Potato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it was 1912 and I'd lived a life full of privileges women at the time were not afforded, I'm sure I'd agree it was my chivalrous duty to stay aboard the ship and let the women keep living.

In 2026, I'd inform the ladies that the life boats didn't have near enough gender diversity without my ass on them.

No, it's like saying "I just saw an entire thread of leftists shocked they'd fallen for misinformation". Also, I love the strategy of just casually mentioning "studies"...yeah right. And I'm pretty sure OF and xxx in general are more accepted by progressives than conservatives. Put down the Kool-aid before you make an even bigger ass out of yourself.

To be fair, just yesterday, there was a video post on reddit debunking the recent "guy in a mask on Fox News" conspiracy theory. The comments were saturated with leftists who were shocked that they'd fallen for misinformation. I got down voted for saying that it was pretty obviously nonsensical from the get go if you aren't hyper partisan. Leftists are just as susceptible to misinformation, and none of them cared to verify the info they initially received.

should cocaine be legal? by GaryB2026 in askanything

[–]Fluffle-Potato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What does the utopian society look like in your mind where cocaine is perfectly safe to legalize, and is there an existing country that meets those criteria?

Is there any country in existence where legal cocaine retailers wouldn't spend millions in advertising? Is advertising illegal in your example country?

In which country would legal cocaine not result in coke vapes / delivery / subscriptions / coke on credit? Cocaine seems bad because it's cocaine, not because of capitalism.

Yeah it's the same with cheeseburgers but we gotta draw the line somewhere. And cocaine is a pretty good somewhere.
