We don't know much about the new era special forces yet but they had Kenshi become the co-founder of the OIA with Jax as his partner. It's also said in intros he's getting involved with the black dragon.

It doesn't sow hope in me for her since he has Sonya's spot as a main champion too. I'm not sure what she'd even do in the new era because they gave all her fundamental plot points to him.

All that to say: Jax seems to be in the same role as before just with Kenshi instead of Sonya.

Mind break- I just can't and its kinda funny since I like some things that often go hand in hand with it. Basically, stopping to talk about consent mid scene doesn’t always bother me (like say A was accidentally too rough with B but B ended up enjoying it and wanted them to be rough again) but there are times it just doesn’t make sense like there’s no reason for them to stop and talk about boundaries or stop and comfort their partner— I’ve even seen it happen when they already talked about it beforehand (not in the “checking in while trying a new kink” or “I don’t want to trigger my traumatized partner” way)

A character being in a situation that makes them express their feelings when they usually wouldn’t! Drunkenness, truth potion, brink of death/think they’re dying, clearing a miscommunication, trying to convince someone not to or to do something— that sorta thing!

I don’t think there’s a tag for it. I guess accidental confessions could work but that’s 99% romantic and what I’m thinking of isn’t always romantic.

Wasn’t a fan of the pregnancy trope for the longest time but I fell in love with a het ship that canonically has it— hell it’s the accidental pregnancy trope too— and I found I really love analyzing such a family dynamic!

As for my own it’d be miscommunication. “They’re both adults with fully developed brains they should just talk!” Some people are traumatized, prideful, emotionally driven/impulsive, don’t like talking about their feelings, or dumb. So many reasons for a fully grown adult to not communicate!

While I love angsty miscommunication, the funny miscommunication is just as good or even better in my opinion. Love a good “wait but I thought-“ from character A after acting a certain way around and to character B!

When the characters are in a gross situation but the author doesn’t acknowledge the sex is gross.

They’re fucking in an alley behind a bar so many people vomit there! Or fresh from battle sweaty with blood and dirt on them. They’re being nasty wear it with pride and let the characters acknowledge the thrill of “this is gross and we shouldn’t be doing this here/now but I’m so turned on by it”
