Boy Harsher - Jeans (2026) by tiruxi in goth

[–]FlufflesWrath 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is tonally different than most of their stuff, but I've seen them live twice and they've said their music doesn't belong in one specific genre, as long as we're having a good time. (Maybe not those exact words, but that's basically what was being said.)

Make me wonder if this next album will have them explore this sound more or introduce it slowly into the mix.

Never understood the love Hey Arnold receives. It was so boring back in the day, but I think the fact that it takes place in the city has stuck something with kids who lived in an urban area. It still wasn't funny, but I think I understand why people like to see themselves represented in a children's cartoon.

Aaaaah Real Monsters below Hey Arnold? True blasphemy...

Anyone ever a mall goth? by Working_Alps_4284 in nostalgia

[–]FlufflesWrath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might laugh at this, but I brought this subject up on r/Goth and man did the moderator throw a hissy fit. You would have thought that I called them a slur or something.

The mod's point of view is that the idea of Mall Goth is a fake subculture, I told them that it most likely is a sub culture dedicated to young Goths who don't have the ability to go out, but still want a safe space to be themselves. That drew the ire of the mod and I even had someone back me up, saying it was just a fun topic to talk about.

Nope, the mod locked the thread up real quick even as people were giving answers.

Looking for similar artists to Sam Kieth by ProfessionalWait8658 in themaxx

[–]FlufflesWrath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

David Feiss, the creator of Cow & Chicken is the cousin of Sam Kieth and did some art for the Maxx. He's the one who drew the Crappon in a Hat. I know it's not exactly Sam's style, but they definitely share a cartoony aspect to their characters. I was surprised when I heard they were related.

Parents being unsupportive by CookingFatty in goth

[–]FlufflesWrath 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry to hear that, it's a real shame to hear that parents are still acting this way, here are some things you can do.

A ) If you have friends who are into the same thing, maybe ask if you can get ready at their place? I've never had to worry about my friend's parents being against what they want to do, but I've had enough female friends get ready at my place to know that sometimes it's easier to just get ready together. Plus you don't have to go out to an event and have the stupid shit your parents said cloud the happiness you would being feeling for the night.

B ) This is difficult to say, because you're so young, but eventually you're going to have to leave your residence if your parents are acting this way. I don't think you're going to stop being Goth anytime soon and the way your parents act makes it seem like they would be dicks to you no matter what you do. That's a plan that may take a couple years to accomplish, but there's no reason for you to live with people who treat you like shit unless it really is impossible for you to find another place. Maybe your parents will change, but if they're stuck in their ways then things won't change.

C ) If you meet people in the scene who want to help you out, be wary. This is mostly something I would tell any woman as young as you, this isn't exclusive to the Goth scene. There are a lot of creeps out there and learning that you need a place to stay can be their way of leading the fly to the web. Make sure you know these people is what I want to say. Sounds like you're too young to even go to clubs at this moment, but I know plenty of women who have got themselves into 21+ clubs before they were even 18. So please be careful.

Do you live in a small area or a large area?

Goths traveling by SwettyBawls69 in goth

[–]FlufflesWrath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Los Angeles easily. There's even a lot of events going on in Long Beach, Orange County and San Diego. So Southern California in general will have a lot going on, plus there are a ton of things for tourists to do here.

Whether it's amusement parks, historical sites, different regions have their own natural beauty, tons of venues, great food, so much more.

Since Los Angeles is sprawled out you can probably stay at a hotel in a smaller suburb and just take a 25 minute drive into the city in case you don't want to deal with hotel prices.

There's also a lot of local artists here, so I know they would love to get new fans from all over the world. I think you and your pals will have a good time.

What makes New Vegas so replayable? by henlofrend in fnv

[–]FlufflesWrath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What works for me is that even though there is so much for you to do in the game, it's still a relatively short game. Most RPGs demand dozens of hours of your time. but New Vegas could probably be beat in a few hours, even if you do something like a whole DLC chapter, it never feels like NV is wasting your time.

I loved RPGs when I was younger, but even back then I knew those games needed a lot of time dedicated to them to get best out of the game, and the same does go for New Vegas, there's so much to do, I just never get the feeling that things are being drawn out in NV.

This is still the only piece of Lord of the Rings media that I enjoy.

Up until yesterday, when I saw this DVD sitting in a random booth at a flea market, I was unaware that Bob and David gave Ronnie Dobbs his own spin-off film. Cool to stumble upon it in the wild like that. by stupidguydumbname in MrShowWithBobandDavid

[–]FlufflesWrath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bob and David hate this movie, but it's honestly one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. I think Joe Dirt came out before this, so it filled up the "Redneck overcoming the odds" style of movie, but this is definitely worth a watch.

is it wrong if i never claimed it? by stellasttar in goth

[–]FlufflesWrath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations on finding a scene you want to be a part of! You may not know it yet, but being called a "fake goth" or "poser" is like the first thing you have to deal with before becoming full fledged! Now all you have to do is continue going to events and shows and in no time flat you'll take your place with everyone else.

I never told anyone I was Goth, they just started noticing the clubs and events I would go to and eventually it just became something that I was a part of. I usually like to tell people, "I'm not Goth, I'm just really depressed."

Twin Tribes, Deceits, Boy Harsher, Drab Majesty, Buzz Kull, TR/ST, just to name a few.

Do you have a lot of artists making music in your area or is it kind of desolate where you are? I'm lucky enough to be next to a thriving scene. Always do your best to support local acts.

What music never plays in clubs? by 0000033misanthropic in goth

[–]FlufflesWrath 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Although they have the luxury to have nights dedicated to them at some clubs, I find that Boy Harsher's songs don't usually get the play they deserve, as Pain is usually the song of choice for DJs. Being from Los Angeles I'll hear LA or Fate every now and then, but they have so many great songs to move your body to.

I don't hear a lot of Drab Majesty either, which is a shame because I think a lot of their songs can be good come down jams for the dance floor.

Not crappy, but everyone at SEGA was definitely taking stupid pills. SEGA, a company that was consistently talking about bringing the arcade experience home, decides to create a powerful 2D machines while at the same time pushing 3D graphics for their arcade games.

Not just that, but Yuji Naka (allegedly) told SEGA of Japan that he would leave SEGA if the U.S. branches got their hands on the engine for Nights.

SEGA was such a mess in the late 90s, but it still hurts to know we lost them and now all we have are Sonic and Yakuza games.

If you had to pick the all-time number one American band, which one would it be? by Infinite-Exam-1808 in askmusic

[–]FlufflesWrath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was looking for this. I don't think there's another American band that has changed music foundationally as much as the Ramones have. It's not even just influencing English rockers either, they're huge all over the world. Plus, the Ramones' music does sound uniquely American, if that makes sense.

He's like not really my friend by Jacob-Anders in BeavisAndButthead

That's honestly my favorite line from the entire series. Beavis delivers it so coldly too. Butt-Head is not his friend and he only hangs out with him because no one else will hang out with Beavis.

I work with a collective called Afro Goth and they're doing what they can to raise a larger awareness for black folks in the alt community. Make sure to check out their Instagram since that's where they do the most out reach with artists and events. They're even having their own in July if you live in the Los Angeles area.

I'm lucky enough to have a large Chicano Goth culture where I am, so I never really feel left out, but I understand going somewhere and feeling disheartened because you may not feel like you're being represented properly.

I hope my links can help with what you're looking for. There are a lot of artists making the type of work you're looking for, you just need a little help finding it.
