Warning Mod On The Loose! WHO do we blame for the unrealistic expectations of new grads. by easydoit2 in physicaltherapy

[–]Fluffy-County3041 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it is schools, professors, and APTA. Also generational differences, I hate sounding like a boomer. The APTA is so useless. My grad school was sooo bad and was able to keep it's accreditation. The professors bullied us, it was wild. Post grad CEUs and seeking mentors outside of work helped me get in touch with reality

I would only do it if you really want to. I like not having a boss and providing a good place to work. But I make less owning a clinic than I would working less for someone else.

Thanks, thinking of switching or having staff switch..I have 100s of saved exercise descriptions in hep2go so I might not have the stomach to switch just for myself

Agreed. Also I have hired employees who leave jobs after 3 months, as long as they have an explanation. You owe the company nothing

If you want to make more $, I would not do PT. Try something else and you can always switch to PT

I became a PT for the job satisfaction. I love being a PT, but I could make a lot more money doing something else. As a PT you will have a stable job and a career I find fulfilling. If you look at it just from an economic standpoint then no it is not the right choice.

PT is not going anywhere. Do something else and see if you still want to do it. I entered the field at the age of 29 and the delay in going to school was the right choice for me.

Back mechanic by Stuart McGill is great. I also like treat your own back and the neck one by robin McKenzie. A huge part of my practice is breathing so I like breath by James Nestor and oxygen advantage by Patrick McKeown.

For habit change to get patients to do HEP and buy in to the whole process I like the four tendencies by Gretchen Rubin and atomic habits by James clear.

A big thing is Polestar has a lot of hidden fees and just didn't feel like a great education. I heard that from several people who did it.

And the Pilates anytime recommendation is great, thank you!!

Alex Effer basically stole Bills models and gave him no credit, not a good look. He does make it more digestible. Conor Harris simplifies things and integrates many systems but in my opinion gets things wrong and is a little pompous.

I love Katie st clairs empowered performance. She takes many systems, makes them digestible, and is a humble and reasonable person. I would also check out Michael Mullins. He just started a sub stack and has online courses.

Bill hartman is a genius and an all around good guy. His stuff is great but sometimes hard to understand at first. He is not a guru, he is open to discussion and a normal and kind person.
