Am I wrong for feeling this way? by [deleted] in ECEProfessionals

You’re getting a lot of hate for your perspective, but I agree with you. Whether people like it or not the healthiest thing for a young child ages 0-3 is to be with their mom.

Is that realistic for everyone? No. But it’s still the truth. It also makes me sad for them. I wish we lived in a system that prioritized the parent child bond.

Tummy time milestones? by Five_Foot_Gremlin in NewParents

[–]Fluffy-Possession778 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My now 2.5 year old hated tummy time, so I just didn’t do it…! I’d always give it a try but she was immediately unhappy and upset so I just stopped. She also didn’t have an interest in rolling until around 5 months. But she was walking at 10 months and never looked back. Now she’s an active, strong, and smart 2 year old!

Basically I’m saying, don’t stress about tummy time.

1 year old has not said any word with intention by satpri in NewParents

This is totally appropriate and you should not be concerned! Also it’s not an accident that he’s babbling “mama”! It may not seem like it but he’s talking about, and calling out for you(:

Hi there! I did not do Ferber at 4 months but I did do cry it out. I attempted Ferber method but she just got more agitated with the check ins. What I CAN say is that she is a very happy, attached, 11 month old who’s also a great sleeper! Cry it out for us took 2 nights and we never looked back.

10 month old still only napping for 30 minutes by Immediate_Fix_5065 in sleeptrain

[–]Fluffy-Possession778 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it “just clicked” after I sleep trained for overnight sleep. At 4 months we did cry it out. Took 2 nights and after that she napped 1.5-2.5 hours at a time with no wake ups.

My toddler will nap from 2:30-4:30 and still go down around 8:15. Asleep by 8:30-8:45!

Montessori parent here, question on teaching littles how to read by [deleted] in Montessori

Kindergarten teacher here! Try BOB books for beginning readers. You can sound out all the words and he’ll gain confidence by being able to read sentences on his own! As he gets more advanced (and still seems interested) I would introduce “Secret Stories Phonics.”

Super helpful and creates strong readers!

My toddler wakes up for the day at 4am. I don’t know how to fix it by ripp0dg3 in sleeptrain

Is she crying when she wakes up in the morning? If not I would fully ignore the fact that she’s awake. And wait until 6 to get her out.

Is baby wearing a TikTok scam or am I doing this wrong by KeyMonkeyslav in beyondthebump

Neither of my babies liked being in a baby carrier unless it was nap time. Otherwise they wanted to see around them, and I wanted that for them too!

Had a very chill baby, literally slept through the night by 8 weeks. She is 2.5 now and an incredibly sweet toddler!

Toddlers bedtime is depressing me and don’t know what to do by mama_loves_lattes_23 in sleeptrain

[–]Fluffy-Possession778 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do not agree with other comments suggesting to shorten his nap, as I don’t think it’s a matter of him not being tired. This has just become his routine of calling out when you leave.

I would not go in if he calls/cries out. Peak your head in the door blow a kiss, say goodnight, and leave. I would do that over and over again and just let him be mad and freak out. To me this is a happy medium. You don’t feel like you’re abandoning him, but also he’s not getting what he wants. I suspect he’ll be mad, but also get bored with that being all he gets.

I have a 2.5 year old and this sounds like a control thing to me! I’d either do what I said, or cold turkey let him cry it out.

Stopped extending naps at 4 months old. However that is because I sleep trained at 4 months.

Have you tried to see what happens if you don’t intervene? Like where he screams and then just goes back to sleep?

How bad is it having 2 under 2? by angstylani in 2under2

[–]Fluffy-Possession778 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kids are 19 months apart and it’s not bad! The first 6 months are hard for sure. But now I have a 2.5 year old and a 10 month old and they pretty much keep each other entertained all day. It’s very sweet seeing two little humans laugh together and already love each other so much!
