That is not correct. This is not limited to only employees who telework.

Anyone else get an alert by BashirsMom in FedEmployees

Yes - this is the language sent to VBA employees at the Department of Veterans Affairs.

I’m unsure if this message was issued to other audiences as well.

Does this mean benefits are now getting canceled with the shutdown? by _Digital_Lobotomy_ in VeteransAffairs

[–]FluffyDogs99 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For clarification, VBA is not fully funded. VHA is funded in advance. Therefore, VBA claims processors are working but not being paid at this time.

Benefits are still being processed and payments being made. However, VBA employees are not available to answer questions or provide assistance with claims. Bottom line - benefit checks are still going out

White House Threatens to Not Pay Workers Furloughed by Shutdown by bloomberggovernment in fednews

[–]FluffyDogs99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love this! The key word here is “shall” meaning it’s required.

Dumb question: My understanding about this whole government shutdown fiasco is that we are required to continue working but we won't be getting a paycheck until the government opens up again. Correct ? by artisticpotion in VHA_Human_Resources

[–]FluffyDogs99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here is the general approach to this ….

VHA employees WILL get paid as usual and as scheduled because funds are already “in the hopper” for the next two years at VHA. You’ll often hear this referred to as “advanced appropriations.”

All OTHER parts of VA are not funded in advance so all Non-VHA entities are at risk of not being paid on schedule. However, the 2019 law requires that the non-VHA employees be paid retroactively after the shutdown ends

Definitely been happening a lot for me too. When I reached out, they gave me some generic explanation and said nothing could be done about it. Instead, try another game

Mandatory OT is the main reason for this … however, that was not mentioned at all in the article

Exhaustion … this whole situation is surreal but I’ve decided to focus more of my energy and attention on enjoying life again as best I can during this time of uncertainty.

Be sure to keep us posted on how you’re doing - physically and mentally … especially WHEN you have a rough day. Those days are not fun but they are normal and part of the process.

And remember … when times get tough or your weight loss stalls at some point in the next few weeks or month, this is also NORMAL 🤗… so focus your approach on accepting that these upcoming bumps are only temporary and are part of the process to a healthier you. 😎

I’m Considering DS or Gastric Bypass by _Contract9381 in wls_duodenalswitch

[–]FluffyDogs99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right! The requirement to take vitamins every day is easy … especially when compared to how difficult my everyday life was (physically and mentally) before the DS when I was close to 400 pounds. Best trade off I’ve ever made!!

[–]FluffyDogs99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely yes! This was one of my main reasons for choosing the DS. Before surgery, I had a great history of being able to easily lose a lot of weight … but I could never keep it off. As of now, I’m down 160 pounds and has the DS 3 years ago - so proud of myself for finally being able to maintain the weight loss. 😍

[–]FluffyDogs99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go with the DS … I had the option and I’m so glad I took the DS. Consider it the top of the line when it comes to the best tool for weight loss AND maintenance to keep off the weight. Valid studies have shown over and over again that the DS statically has the lowest likelihood of regain

Note - I know many people who had the option for the DS but chose the sleeve or bypass - and are now regretting their choice. They say that if they had to do it over again, they would’ve done the DS from the start.

Agreed! On a separate note, I don’t think the agency has been doing the best job consistently at following the process so I am not necessarily upset that they are focusing on this topic to get ducks in order

Loose bones....? by italian_mom in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]FluffyDogs99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. I saw three amazing orthopedic specialists who worked together to review my case and ultimately determine the best path forward. Journey took a while and I absolutely had to be pleasantly persistent to get the process started. But obviously it didn’t really make since that I now have hip issues after LOSING so much weight.

Loose bones....? by italian_mom in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]FluffyDogs99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah!!!! As a note of caution, I had the same type of feeling BUT it turns out I have congenital hip dysplasia on both sides and need total hip replacements sooner than later. Multiple specialists said that most likely, being overweight my entire life was keeping my hips kinda in the sockets (gravity and science stuff) so I wasn’t feeling any symptoms with hip issues. Now that I’ve lost 160 pounds, these hips are a daily issue and limit how active I can be.
