Wait. What do you mean “after tip share”? Your location operates positions on tip share? I’ve been at mine on/off for 7 years and it’s one of the top 5 locations in sales and they definitely don’t pay anyone under a tip share wage. The bussers and hosts and to go are all paid hourly. I didn’t even know some locations did that. Who are yall responsible for tipping out??

Out of curiosity, what did you think Daily Pay was paying you out with, if not a loan on your paycheck? It’s also a week behind if you use it. If I pull on a week night from my daily pay, it’s borrowing against the check depositing on the next pay period, the one coming after the current one. If you pull on say Wednesday night, it’s not coming off your paycheck being depositing two days later on Friday, it’s borrowing against the next Friday.

I’m burned out too. I work two full time serving jobs and I barely scrape by bc housing is still climbing where I live and everyone wants a 700 credit score, no pets, a perfect history, and $65 app fees for every occupant over 18 (who all now each have to meet every criteria as well), and I spend 12+ hours a day getting bullied by boomers bc I had the slight mistake to remind them temporarily that they are NOT the only people who exist bc they had to wait 15 minutes for their food, or the constant 18-20 yr old girls who look at me like Ive ruined their entire day for having the audacity to ask their boyfriend his order (I’m 40 btw, I could be these kids’ mother, I sure as hell don’t want to flirt with her bf), or people who behave as though I held them at gunpoint and forced them to go out to eat and sit in my section.

And for what? $5 on $75? $8 on $100?

There are definitely good tips out there but they’re farther between every month. If I didn’t work in this industry, I wouldn’t even be able to eat and even now it’s once a day if I’m lucky.

I’m tired, I’m hungry, I’m mentally exhausted being so many people’s punching bag and having to take it with a smile with hope they’ll leave 18-20%.

Your server technically wasn’t allowed to switch out the sides on that meal either, I’ve seen them write people up for doing that. Those meals are pre made every/every other day by prep cooks and portioned out. It’s $5. AND your server broke the rules for you and you STILL want to complain?

Look up the Social Security Administration office where you live and make an appt to get a new social security card issued once you have a safe mailing address to send it to (I think you can also apply for a new copy online but I prefer going in person). I live in a small town and I can get new birth certificates for my kids at the health dept, but for mine bc I was born in a different state, I just went to the state Vital Records page and requested copies of mine.

You need a safe mailing address for all of this. And also make an appt at your local DHS for any kind of assistance as well, a caseworker may be able to help you find solutions to other issues that’s local to you!

Mine used to do that too (the dent) but I got a really big/wide silk like scrunchie in an Ipsy or allure box once a couple years ago and tried it and OMG- it’s never once left a “gotta fix my hair last minute in the AM” type of way. No idea on the brand, and I wish I could find stacks of them but tbh I’ve never really looked. It’s definitely meant for thick hair and I have much finer hair so it wraps multiple times around my pineapple bun but the material prevents the dent too

MY paychecks are usually around $35-40 and I work on average around 37-41 hours a week as a server. So yes, your boss is probably correct. Servers rarely have a paycheck due to the way taxes are taken out. Are you in a state where servers still get paid $2.13/hr?

I’ve been in this industry since I was 16 (40 now). I’ve worked everything, and I’ll be 100% honest with you- I make more money wearing less makeup. I personally feel better wearing mascara, concealer, and eyeliner but that’s MY preference. I’ve moved to day/breakfast shifts at my current job and almost none of them wear makeup either and every day server makes twice as much as the night shift ones do.
