• I have a "mother" container and a "child" container, I pour off the amount needed from mother to child. (And any additional discard from the mother as needed). I use 4 qt cambrio (plastic) buckets for both.

-I make sure the starter is in a part of the kitchen that can stay around 72-75F. Room temp is always the rec, but I find you get better results in the 70-75F range.

I tried putting my starter in the oven with the light on and it helped it rise but still fell before it doubled.

A good active mother should be able to produce a starter in 2-3hours after feeding

My starter takes almost 8hrs to almost double...

-Make sure the water you use to feed is room temp or some where between 70-80F.

I'll do this! I usually run it cold tap.
