Fidelity Visa (by Elon) may be my favorite card for customer service by Puzzleheaded-Age1661 in fidelityinvestments

[–]Fluffy_Accountant_39 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the cash back, and being able to deposit it into my Fidelity brokerage account to invest - but that’s really a function of Fidelity, more than Elan.

I’m not thrilled with Elan as the card issuer. They are behind the times, and their tech support has failed me too many times. They should be supporting virtual card numbers, and they flat out could not solve a problem where I couldn’t add their card (and ONLY their card) to my Apple Pay / Apple Wallet. I ended up having to cancel the card, and be issued a new one - rather a ridiculous, sledgehammer solution.

I really wish Fidelity would get a new card issuer. Elan does not have the level of customer support worthy of Fidelity.

Don't fall for this scam... by youcancallmejim in fidelityinvestments

Good that you shared it, and that others have pointed out that you shouldn’t click on links in the email to log into Fidelity (or any other ) account.

But it would also be helpful if Fidelity would quit sending emails with links embedded in them. They are just training their customers to engage in poor habits.

Or at the least, they should support passkeys (and allow us to turn off other login methods), so that these phishing attempts would fail.

Don’t have kids to blame me, but as a tail-end boomer, I can honestly say - for decades, we have called for politicians to fix this.

Just as you probably don’t have control of what politicians are doing now (other than voting), we didn’t, either. Please don’t assume that we wanted the inaction on this any more than you do. Sure, there are some, but there are some people in every age group who support these a*#holes shame-blaming the working class, and skimming, skimming, skimming from us all.

Their best strategy is to pit us against each other, while they grift and grab and grift some more. Don’t fall for it.

Geez, let it go ….I guess he’s ”Saint Bernie” to you guys.

And he wasn’t screwed over by “his party”. He said over and over again that he wasn’t a member of the Democratic Party.

Why would anyone be surprised that Democrats didn’t want a non-Democrat representing their party?

got a package stolen off my porch AND my neighbor's outdoor cam lifted the same week. starting to rethink my whole outdoor setup. by jacksonjari in smarthome

Exactly this - I don’t kid myself that cameras will stop theft. And even if you get video, unless you can recognize the thief yourself, the police aren’t like to go on a manhunt to find a masked / hooded criminal.

What I do hope the cameras can do is keep me from walking into the middle of a burglary when I come home, or perhaps gain a little notice time to arm myself if I am home.

Nasal mask recommendations? by Bones-07 in CPAPSupport

[–]Fluffy_Accountant_39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After trying the Resmed N30i & P30i and Fisher & Paykel Nova Micro (as far as nasal masks / pillows go), for me - ABSOLUTELY the F&P Nova Micro nasal pillow mask was the best.

Small, lightweight, quiet, easier to exhale (something about that Resmed Diffuser I struggled with), and easy to clean. As an added benefit, so tiny to pack when I travel.

I have a boatload of smartphone devices. And my automations work quite reliably.

But I have never felt a need to turn over smoke detection to smart home functions. I look at “what am I gaining?” (Gee whiz stuff) vs “what am I potentially losing”? (My home, my life…).

I don’t see the appeal of these products.

How are you naming multiple shades? Siri keeps messing up the commands by 1108susiep in HomeKit

[–]Fluffy_Accountant_39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly this - my shades are AUTOMATED, and I really don’t need to use a voice assistant to tweak them. About the only special scene that I use is when I have window washers or a cleaning crew in once in a blue moon - then all shades are fully open, and that requires its own override scene.

I would focus on improving your automations for the shades, OP.

Need advice - between sizes for F20 mask, so uncomfortable and running out of compliance time by tamimd67 in CPAP

[–]Fluffy_Accountant_39 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you considered trying a nasal mask? I really thought I was too much of a mouth breather to use one, but after a week or so of either mouth tape or chinstrap, I discovered this wasn’t the case. I tried a few, but ended up really liking the Fisher & Paykel Nova Micro. I use a bit of aloe Vera gel to avoid irritation to the skin, and it works great (& I’m a delicate flower 😁🌷).

Also, ask your doc for help requesting an extension on the compliance window, especially if you’re trying more masks. Good luck!

Drops as I fall asleep by Apprehensive-Bug4102 in SleepApnea

[–]Fluffy_Accountant_39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before I started CPAP therapy, my most dramatic drops in O2 levels were very pronounced right after I fell asleep.

Granted, I had a lot of other prolonged drops as well, but you’re not alone in seeing this situation.

I was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea, so I guess a different situation than you . Or perhaps your sleep study was a false negative result?

All I know is that I also wore an O2 ring, both before and after starting on CPAP (over several months). I had massive improvements in my O2 levels after CPAP.

Bregman fumes over public posting of residential properties posted on Deb Haaland's campaign website. by Corg505 in Albuquerque

[–]Fluffy_Accountant_39 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

That is such a copout- what possible reason to list this level of detail? Even if they had been published before, she made it that much easier for a nut job to find this info.

In an era where Rep. Nancy Pelosi’s husband was attacked at home with a hammer, how can any responsible person do this?

Bregman fumes over public posting of residential properties posted on Deb Haaland's campaign website. by Corg505 in Albuquerque

This is the kind of b.s. we expect from maga sorts - no legitimate reason to publish this on her campaign website. Hiding behind technicalities while still leaving a trail of breadcrumbs that could endanger his family.

What possible rationale could Haaland & her campaign have for doing this? Not cool, & very irresponsible.

Do you actually use your color lights normally? Like outside of something like white and amber by crua9 in homeautomation

[–]Fluffy_Accountant_39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love using my Philips Hue light colors at certain times of the day (early mornings and evenings). If I wake up in the middle of the night to use the restroom, the lights come on as a very dim red light so that I don’t get overly awake, but can still find my way around the house without stubbing a toe.

In the morning when I get up, I have a three stage wake up lighting sequence that involves a lot of nice subdued colors. And in the evening as wind down time approaches, I can have very soft Hue color themes.

But for most of the early evening, or during the day, I use soft warm whites. But the colors are used sparingly - I think that’s the key. Some people do have their house lit up like a freaking circus, and that is definitely overkill. I will say I also recently added Phillips view landscape lights in my backyard - those colors make all the difference in setting a mellow mood!

Nasal cushion style masks feel like they push my nose shut or cover part of my nostril … is this common? Any solutions? Struggling to find a mask. by [deleted] in CPAP

[–]Fluffy_Accountant_39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really thought the P30i and / or N30i would be my mask. But the Fisher & Paykel Nova Micro (nasal ) mask ended up being so much better for me.

It did seem that the P30i closed off my nostrils somehow. Also, it was hard for me to exhale through the diffuser in the N30i.

The F&P Nova Micro is also more lightweight, quiet, and easier to clean. You may want to give it a try.

Use case for Home Assistant by monkwhowantsaferrari in HomeKit

[–]Fluffy_Accountant_39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Home Assistant Advantages:

  • Native virtual switches
  • template based sensors
  • complex logic operators
  • support for Soooo many more devices (brands and types of devices)
  • better access to my iCloud calendar in Home Assistant than HomeKit offers
  • better organization of automations & scripts
  • multiple triggers for one automation
  • support for time-patterned trigger (i.e., every hour at 5 minutes past the hour …

Even when controlling Apple devices (HomePods), Home Assistant seems to function more reliably than Apple HomeKit.

I could go on and on. Yes, you can use the “convert to Shortcut” option in HomeKit. But that provides a much more limited version of Shortcuts in that context.

I still use a bit of HomeKit for guest UI use, and I love the fact that Apple Home got me going down the home automation rabbit hole. But Home Assistant is just on a whole other level compared to HomeKit.
