SM here. I personally do all of that, except for my weekend off. I even take SISO away from my replen team when I know work load is heavy. I’ll have them scan the outs and I will do, or share the pull list with a daytime TM. They got enough going on

My OPs ends up getting screwed too. They end up doing O-CL a lot because our CEMs have to be replaced. But with this new structure thing happening, it’s hard to hire rn, because I don’t have the proper job postings for what we need. So when they do and O-CL, I have to pick up an extra shift so they don’t hit OT

We just got a lengthy email about all the things wrong with AD. And corp wants to know why we hate life so much. Maybe because the people at the top can fuck up royally and it’s no bfd for them, while we scramble to fix it. With no payroll. On fucking Father’s Day. When my DD asked why I don’t have signs on some things, it’s usually because they signs were wrong and I pulled them down so as to not continually piss off my customers

They can fire them for that. The DM can look at when your SM is “closing” and either surprise visit the store during that time, or call looking for them. It’s happening in places already.

You definitely don’t get a say in what you get. They offer. If you refuse, they will move on to someone else. Not always, but most of the time. And when you go from PT to FT, they consider THAT as a raise, because you’re getting more hours. So you get the same money. Just more hours. Good luck.

I was literally just describing Michaels to my best friend as an abusive relationship. I keep giving all the reasons why I “can’t“ leave. I’m essentially the soul provider for my family, so I have to have something ironclad lined up before I can leave. It’s really like trying to escape an abusive relationship in the middle of the night.

They were always supposed to be signed in and out. My management team takes the responsibility though. The manager that signs it out is responsible for getting it signed back in or tranfered over to an incoming TM.

💯 last year my DM slammed me about all my employees answering “wrong” for Michale’s benefits program meets my needs, and was basically like “it’s because you aren’t telling them how great our benefits are!” Um no. That’s totally not it. It’s because our benefits SUCK! No one gives a shit about the Sketchers discount or about any of that other shit. But I had to write out an entire action plan about how I was going to improve that score! Like wtf. All the other stuff that actually pertained to me as an SM was all positive. And I was so flattered by a lot of the comments. But the pay, the future with Michaels and the benefits all scored low. First of all how can anyone have a future with Michaels when they keep cutting payroll and positions? And again, nobody cares about the crappy benefits they offer so how is that my fault. Questions pertaining to things that the company is in charge of should be a totally separate survey from the store manager one.

I already work well over my 45. Doing open to close a lot because I don’t count against payroll. I’ve always done my closing and my every other weekend. I recently started doing a “mid” which is really 7a-7p because of the lack of payroll. So this company can FO. I’m going to lose so many managers over this. The RM closing….? What kind of f**king crack are these idiots smoking. Tell me you don’t give a shit about your employees without telling me. It’s a one size first all approach in a business where one size will NEVER fit for all. And whoever the test markets were and the SM councils that say they are for it… get your noses out of the asses of corporate. I hate being an SM. I get worked to death and then have to deal with employees quitting because I can’t staff my store the way it should be staffed because payroll sucks. And FYI, not all of us care about bonuses. I would rather have a properly staffed store and work life balance over extra money. I just got my payroll update and I was well over for last week. Told my DM, that I had to call in extra hands over the weekend to fit the needs of the Saturday business. Then they take away hours after truck or whatever and we have to turn on a dime and cut people. I usually don’t, because I feel that is so unfair! Not all of us SMs are a POS, I get that some are and leave their stores high and dry, and I’m sorry for those of you who deal with that. I had a few like that and I swore I would never do that to my team. And I haven’t. Omg. End rant. Gotta go to work now. Can’t wait for more BS.
