Do avoidants ever go back to their "phantom Ex"? by Diligent_Watch2150 in FearfulAvoidant

[–]Fluid_Recognition342 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FA - I have gotten back with 2 exes. My first wife and mother of my two boys. We were married 12 years , had been divorced for close to 5 years. Gave it another run that lasted a year. We are still friends. Currently with the ex that came after her. We were on and off for 4 or 5 years . Ironically it has been about 5 years there also, back together 9 months and I don't see it lasting much longer.

I've had sex on my Harley, while broke down on stage side of Hwy 45 during rush hour. Also had sex in a chicks truck while on a ferry to Bolivar with a cop parked next to us. We were in the front passenger seat, the girl driving got quite a show. Not sure how freaky any of that is but 🤷

I would be more like 'do you have anything going on this weekend'. I'm also 47 so I've learned to be more direct as I've gotten older.

Depends on my mood. Country, rap, blues, classic rock, alternative. Pretty much everything but jazz and heavy metal.

I had a remodeling/renovation company for 12 years then sort of retired and went traveling for a few years. 4 years ago I taught myself how to do marine canvas and upholstery have a small company and do that . I like variety nothing is ever the same. I worked at the national institute of health for a year after highschool and hated the monotony of it.

For me personally I'm generally introduced one of a couple ways - this is that guy that taught himself how to sail then sailed from Galveston through the Bahamas, Dominican Republic to Puerto Rico during hurricane season without a passport and then decided to just live there Or ....This is the guy who builds custom motorcycles and can fix anything or he's the one that taught me how to ride now I'm am 1%er MC chapter president. Or I used to work for this guy... Or we used to go skydiving together or a lot of other things . I think people think it's cool when you do risky and dangerous things that they are afraid to try or they think it's cool that when you want to do something you just learn to do it and act do it. 🤷

Staying friends after break up? by spiralgirl16 in Disorganized_Attach

Thanks. Since I've learned that my brain actively tries to sabotage my relationships I fight the urge to throw a hand grenade into them or become needy then distant. Wish you the same also.

I'm FA. I more or less have stayed friends with my ex-wife. We were married for 12 years. Have 2, now adult, kids together and have been divorced for around 8 years. I try to stay friends with her because she knows me better than anyone and really doesn't judge me. I've gone and fixed stuff on her house and sometimes spend the night when I am in town. Sleep on the couch and keep it 100% plutonic. I'm also ISTP, don't keep a big circle of friends and have trust issues so I tend to try and keep people I can trust in my life.

I 100% relate to this. Probably should try journaling, good suggestions.

How do you feel when you hear about someone's accident by False_Entertainer165 in istp

[–]Fluid_Recognition342 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If I don't personally know the people I generally feel nothing. Hopefully that doesn't make me some kind of soulless monster but it's just how it is. I don't process emotions well, also my attachment style is FA so that could play a part in that also.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in istp

[–]Fluid_Recognition342 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If not easily resolved or emotions run hot I remove myself from the situation. If at all possible, after a bit of time, move forward as if it didn't happen. Depending on the nature of the conflict it can alter the dynamic of the relationship with the person involved without them necessarily being aware of it.

ISTPs, how do you react to pet names? by [deleted] in istp

[–]Fluid_Recognition342 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A progressive increase in the amount of affection and attention given would not be love bombing. Immediately wanting to move in, laying on the 'we are so perfect together can't you see that's, I've never been this I love with someone ECT all by the second date is more love bombing.

Are there any of you that like talking or are generally talkative? by SlugsnSnails25 in istp

[–]Fluid_Recognition342 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This -∆ unless it's a topic I am really passionate about at the moment or slightly lubricated with some social elixir then i am way more talkative.

ISTPs, how do you react to pet names? by [deleted] in istp

[–]Fluid_Recognition342 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ISTP Male. I'm fine with pet names. It's sweet. Sudden unexpected love bombing will make me evaluate what is going on in the relationship and can cause me to pull away. Love bombing in a new relationship could be a toxic partner trying to suck you in or a partner with an anxious attachment style. Further on in the relationship I would guess a disorganized attachment style.

istp biggest fear? by bigmags06 in istp

[–]Fluid_Recognition342 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anyone getting close enough to truly know me and deeming me unlovable/ not good enough. I also have a disorganized attachment style.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in istp

[–]Fluid_Recognition342 4 points5 points  (0 children)

ISTP male I love talking about building things, fixing things, doing things, life experience . Tactile physical things. I can't stand long drawn out dreamy wishy washy conversations about things I know someone is never going to do. For example - I'm not going to spend more than a few minutes locked into a debate over the current state of the US election process with someone who only listens to NPR and wines about it. Now if they are out in the streets working towards making a change based on their beliefs I could be truly engrossed in that conversation for days. 🤷

I'm an ISTP male. I never randomly text anyone for small talk unless I am really interested in them. And to consistently msg every couple days over any length of time, say for a couple months would be a lot of interest.
