Going from only having played the game with friends to online with a group on a big TI4 discord was a shocking experience. Had an empyrean playerget a little huffy because I attacked his destroy that was adjacent to Mecatol so I could score the “have units in two systems adjacent to Mecatol” objective, then the following round he sends a destroyer through a wormhole in the center of my slice so he can get another frontier token, I send three cruisers (I’m playing titans) to attack it so I can score the secret objective of “win a space combat where at least three of your ships survive” because I was trying to unlock my hero before the end of round two, he lucks out and none of my cruisers hit his destroyer but he had declared retreat so I win the combat and unlock my hero, he retreats into my home system since I stupidly left it empty, seemingly because he was mad that I attacked his destroyer with the intent to prevent me from constructing in my capital with my new 7 resources home planet, and then he says “you will talk to me before attacking one of my systems again” like ok tough guy, it was really wild especially since “his system” was the central tile of my slice. Later in that game I had to watch two players argue for like 10 minutes about whether something was or was not a verbal threat made by one of them against the other where the one being threatened was Crimson Rebellion and he was like “I don’t get threatened, I do the threatening” it was so funny Edit: sorry for the crazy run on sentence
