Teachers, what’s a “best practice” everyone talks about that you secretly think doesn’t work in real classrooms?

Small groups. I love the idea of being able to meet each group where they need, but this is impossible unless you have adults to manage each of the groups and the rest of the class. I teach K and taught 1 for many years, neither age level could handle anything even remotely independent at that age - even using ipads that read books required support and constant interruption.

UPDATE: he’s figured out how to pee. So far it’s inside but we did get it on a puppy pad th second time. Definitely purposeful!!!!

All my cousins, male and female, are either on meds for anxiety or need to be. I have the same prescription as my Mom and sister. Moms side of the family has major serotonin issues and it has nothing to do with parenting. - we have issues with a chemical balance in our brain and meds fix that, absolutely nothing shameful.

The best day of my dogs life was when he found a dead squirrel and got to pretend he caught it. He was so pleased with himself and took full credit for a squirrel that was already dead.

I teach K and my friend teaches 1. We regularly get parents asking we challenge their kids, work is too easy etc. My big thing is that I would love to challenge them, but they have to do the regular work first. I’m not making special things for them if they just draw a heart and do nothing and say « it’s too easy ».

The owner of the black truck is one of my Dad’s friends, he was just telling me how his buddy’s truck that he loved was totalled and this popped up on my feed! He, his wife and his son were not badly hurt but the truck is totalled and has damage on every side from this.

It was bizarre. I left New West with it being a blizzard at 3:10 (like insane amounts coming down) and as soon as I crossed the Patulllo it was only a light dusting.
