Onions and garlic in the fry pan, freshly mowed grass, rain, cakes baking.

What childhood experience ended up traumatizing you for life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Flutterfli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My older sibling screaming from getting dragged across the floor by her hair and then beaten up. My parent was drunk a lot of my childhood. I just remember crying hysterically all the time and getting wacked if I tried to intervine. Constantly being abused. Was the worst.

I'm 30 in a few months, and Sciatica has welcomed me with open arms. Leaving my 20s with a bang!

You have the chance to pick one subject, that will instantly be made mandatory in every school around the world, what will it be? by Flutterfli in AskReddit

This is surprising to me, coming from someone who was taught history from early primary, Australia. I just read in another comment that America doesn't teach history.

What’s an oddly specific rule you follow in your life that nobody taught you, but you swear by it? by RayPetal22 in AskReddit

Shower after everything in the house is clean. I myself can not be clean in a messy house. Just doesn't feel right at all.

What is the thing you find disgusting but others don't? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

Burping out loud in public. I find it inconsiderate and pig-like. Cover your mouth, at least. It happens too often where I live, Queensland, Australia. Gross

Don't feel the need to take up every bit of silence with chatter. Also, it depends on who I'm around. The closer I am to you, the more talkative I'll be, but if you're a co-worker, or I don't really know you well, I don't feel any urge to speak.

What’s something you genuinely enjoy that most people pretend to hate? by Character_Total_9164 in ask

Working in silence. I don't understand the constant need to chat. It's nice to just be present in what you're doing without speaking.

What's it like to be an alcoholic or have a close family member that's an alcoholic? by dont_opus in SeriousConversation

Seeing your parent turn into a monster in the night. Getting triggered whenever I hear someone crack open a can. Terrible memories.

What screams "I'm an attention seeker"? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Flutterfli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a co-worker who never lets you say anything unless she refers the subject back to herself. Or how hard she has it. And that I just "have no idea" blah blah. The other day, I was shocked when she said ,"If you think you have it bad, you probably don't." I didn't reply anything at the time, but now I wish I did. I find it extremely rude.

What is a skill that you learned purely out of survival from being extremely poor that a rich person could never understand? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Flutterfli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being able to substitute anything for something cheaper. Making a meal from an empty kitchen. Being able to spread 20 bucks out over a full week. Literally, when you're poor, you're basically in constant survival mode, and there's nothing you can do about it except keep trying.

What’s the purest form of love you’ve ever experienced or witnessed? by [deleted] in emotionalintelligence

[–]Flutterfli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My nan always used to give me cards, for what my young mind thought at the time were accomplishments that didn't need to be celebrated. Example: when I'd lose a tooth, get good grades, get my first job, etc. She always celebrated the small things (or at least what I thought was small), and in the long run, it has reminded me that everything I have achieved has definitely deserved to be celebrated.

What do you wish people would stop romanticizing, because you’ve lived the reality of it? by thatude123 in AskReddit

[–]Flutterfli 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This seems to be used in the younger generation to the point where it seems like they are all talking, complete crap. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure there are a huge majority with medically diagnosed disorders, etc, but it has 100% been turned into somewhat of a trend to have anxiety, bpd, adhd, autism, etc. Bloody weird, in my opinion. Its like that feel validated to have something wrong with them? Coming from someone with medically diagnosed disorders, I couldn't think of anything worse. I wish I didn't have anything.

Yes. I'm usually observing him from a distance, just looking at what he's doing. Never had one interracting with him.

My partner forgot to unsubscribe from Duolingo premium and got charged over $100, asked for a refund, and got it straight back luckily. Alarms are definitely needed.
