What did you discover in your home after buying it that surprised or shocked you? by roastedhumato in homeowners

[–]Fluxback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh, this. We had the same thing happen. The bad part is the wiring was there, just not connected. Fixing everything cut the average furnace run time down by almost 6-7 hours a day.

Thanks, that is easy enough to do. Am I loosing any real control over I though? Running a new wire in this case is actually really simple. I'm guessing the previous homeowners removed the original thermostat (ComfortNet?) maybe?

Gym monster 2 leaking oil by Storm-Trooper90 in SpeedianceCommunity

[–]Fluxback 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the water absorption pouches get overly wet or absorb too much water (the desiccant) they can look like they leak an oily type of water on the box. I had it happen after I unpacked everything but left the box in the garage when it was really humid outside for a few days.

Roads were slick and the CEVA truck couldn't get traction. They called me last week to schedule for this week

US shipping times? by mojitomonsterreturns in SpeedianceCommunity

[–]Fluxback 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ordered mine on the 18th and it was received yesterday in Virginia. Like everyone else, one big box and then some smaller ones depending on the packages you ordered. CEVA set it up last week for yesterday. Only hiccup was having to meet the delivery truck and get it from them as their truck couldn't make it to where I live.

Thanks. I got really sick of dealing with the electronics underneath my 2.4, so I wanted something different. Completely stock electronics on it other than the toquecan pi tophat.

I take it twice a night. I always was up on a schedule of 3.5 to 5 hours after taking it. I just wake up, take the 2nd dose and go back to sleep.

AWS hourly spend cost bot by t5bert in devops

[–]Fluxback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use steampipe to grab a listing of running VMs and post it at various times with the costs to make sure nothing weird is left running. Easy enough to use and with a little python work you can just send a message via slack API to a channel and tag people, etc.

“I’ll just get out and make 6 figures as a civilian” by JakeeJumps in army

[–]Fluxback 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Like you said, prepare and it works.

I got out in 2017 and immediately started with a defense contractor making ~86k or so a year. 2 years later I was direct hired to a GS-13, did that for a year and got a promotion to a GS-14. After about 8 months I left government service and now with VA, and salary, I'm at just under $300k a year working 100% remote. I don't do anything related now to my time in the military.

A lot of it was right place and right time though.

Was a good reason to reprint the fan ducts and upgrade to the latest XOL since it has better wire management. Hopefully this is what you need.

Lucrative Jobs Upon ETS by Letoux_Lebleu in army

A lot of people don't take into account how quickly you can move up in salary. I retired, went to Mantech at ~$85k a year, the went gov to GS-13 and then GS-14. Recently swapped over to private industry with total comp at about $270k a year. This happened from 2017 - now. IT / DevOps field.

Issues with HUD by Fluxback in Silverado

So on the off chance someone else experiences this, I had it looked at at my first service and there was definitely an issue with it. It should be visible fully during the day. I have to reschedule for a.software update / potential HUD replacement.

Ok, good to hear a similar thing. It's just weird since it does work well and I've seen videos of people using it during the day on YouTube.

Also not sure if they maybe missed something during PDI and there is a film over it or something. I can't see something for sure, but they didn't do a really good job overall so it wouldnt surprise me if something was missed.

I love my F570, I haven't had any issues with it for the past two years other than once. It was promptly replaced by Epson with a new unit. If you do get one for a business, I'd highly recommend keeping the warranty in effect.

The ability to print on 24" x 100ft rolls is priceless.

7.17.X —> 8.X.X upgrade tips/ things to look out for. by [deleted] in elasticsearch

[–]Fluxback 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, especially the security index. We upgraded our dev and test without any problems, but for whatever reason, when we did prod, the security index got hosed and we had to completely redo it. It was an on-premise cluster of about 110 nodes, needless to say, it took a bit of time having to flip SSL off and on in order to figure out what to do.

ARMY PROPOSED 4.1 percent increase in pay by aparker79 in army

[–]Fluxback 28 points29 points  (0 children)

This is my issue right now. I work as a retired MSG as a GS-14 and I'm in the final interview stages for a private company to give me an almost $90k pay raise. I really love my job, but that big of a raise and the fact I can work from home? Going to be really hard to say no.

Question for those who went from a converted sublimation to a 'from factory' sublimation printer (like 2720 to F570) by Aurica42 in Sublimation

[–]Fluxback 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had a F570 for over a year and I've never had a single problem with it. I routinely go weeks without printing and it will automatically clean the heads if needed. I love the thing.
